Re: ordering motor in morning have you ever heard of

Well I just called rapido marine to check status on my motor that I ordered on 4-11 and they said they had some kind of problem when they balanced it and have to start over. They are going to try to ship it out tomorrow. If ain't for bad luck I would not have any luck at all.

it has oil in it when u get it...no break in instructions, i would just run about 4 good heat cycles taking the revs up a bit each time then change the oil when finished...How we do all our race motors for years now...

I called yesterday like I didn't have a order and he told me all motors are shipped within 3-5 days I am at 9 days today and still have no idea.

Re: ordering motor in morning have you ever heard of

Well I did get ahold of them this morning about 9:30 and she said it was sitting on the floor to go out but could not give me all the shipping info. She said she would call me in a couple hours and I still have not heard. I am normally pretty easy when they want to be honest when I ordered if they said 8 days okay but when I was told 3-4. I have been told friday it was going monday then monday they said it was going tuesday I was told tuesday it was going wednesday yesterday they never called me back or replied to my email's then today is here and I have no Idea. Just tell me the truth what is going on and I would not be so unhappy about the deal. I hope if something goes wrong it is easier than this to have it solved. I can not believe Raul the owner I have talked to and he is not offering me anything for the headache to satisfy me.

Well to the good part ups and fedex brought me all my other parts today. Just need the major part.

Hang in there buddy, it's April. They've got to be just buried with work. I know I'd be worse than you. Rapido has a great rep, hope it all comes out right!

Yes I did buy the est dist, I will post back later today on how it looks he has some really good prices and was very easy to deal with.
Also I emailed Raul about break in procedure and got really no good answer other than strait hd 40 oil.

Well I opened the est dist from aftermarket marine and everything looks great. Nice thick spark plug wires as nice heavy duty wires as long as they are long enough to reach over the manifolds will be nice or have mine always been ran wrong.

Re: Just ordered motor from rapido more questions along the way

I have a moroso oil pan part number 20180 can anyone please tell me if I need to run a windage tray on this or am I okay to run it without it. I just got home with my motor and really want to install it tonight and the oil pan I pulled of my old motor was the moroso 20180 one and it did not have a windage tray on it. Do I have to wait and order a windage tray or is it not needed. Here is a link to it.

I dont think you ever HAVE to run a windage tray, but it does make more power if you do. People who build race engines almost always use windage trays.

Check if that pan is deeper than your stock pan.
Canton Racing has nice marine high volume pans that meet the measurements needed.

This is what I used. Ill see if I can add pictures.
Both the tray and pan were from Canton Racing. The products were really nice, but the fit wasnt very good? For the price, they should install themselves and give you compliments while doing so...

Okay I tried to see if my pan would even fit the over the windage tray studs and it hits them. So I guess I have a couple choices cut the windage tray studs shorter and run no pan. Replace them main cap studs with the bolts. Or to run a windage tray I have to buy a new oil pan kit. I don't have the factory pan or windage tray.

Ayuh,... It appears you 'n Flysfloatsor are building Very different motors...
He's got a Jetboat oil pan...

I clicked on yer link, it appears yer 6qt.er is a sump reserve type...
Is it gonna clear the hull when ya drop the motor in,..??
It'll probably need an oil pump pickup extension too...
It also appears it's got sorta a small built in windage tray/ baffle...

How ya play it is up to you,...
I'd probably just hunt up a standard stock pan, 'n get on with it myself...

I just talked to Raul, he said my moroso pan is fine, since it is baffled, I just have to remove or cut my studs. I guess I am going to need a different pick up screen, than what the local parts store has, due to being a 6 qt. capacity pan.
