Thanks guys & gals !
My goal is to restore at least one of as many types of boat possible before my times up ..
I,v covered the 60's classic runabout. I have always loved the 70's go fast ski boats so I think the Borum will fit the bill .. :)
Not a lot of info on these boats and I don,t think there were many made . They were made right here in J-ville by a guy named Don Borum ..
I may start a thread on it after I get a chance to clean it up . At least 200 lbs of oak leaves in there . I sure hope the 175 checks out . I took the cowling off and was able to turn the flywheel without to much effort . There was no controls unless they are buried under the mulch . It took me ,Chris , and my son Ryan to wrestle the motor into the garage and onto a saw horse ..The thing weighs a ton !! :faint2:
Maybe next one will be a tinny ! :D
Got A boatload of hunny do's to do .. So I'd better get cracking before the Admiral starts :whip:

Dang Sam.... So ya went and did it! Great for you!! That's one little rocket ship there. Can't wait to see what you do to her. Again...Great for you! I figure my current project will end up being my Viking burial.

Congrats, if the 175 checks out, that's an incredible deal, and I bet it'll haul arse...

I didn't look too close when you 1st posted it, but looking at it now, I'd bet Don splashed these off a Glastron CV/CVX hull:

Go check thru Jay's (Friscoboater) CVX I/O topic, I suspect you'll see lots of similarity...........

Good luck keeping the frying pan on the shelf and not hurling your way. I think you just like the itch and burn:
Finish the MFG, and dig into a fishing rig w/ your SIL. Before that's done, you start volunteering to finish Charles boat, and just as that's nearing completion, ya drag this home.

Yep you got a problem my friend ;)

^^ says the guy w/ more boat projects then he's willing to admit...

Looks like it'll be a real screamer when you get it finished. BTW: Keeping the brown and gold metal flake?

 I think I have 4 caskets waiting in my yard right now !! :D

Thanks jb ! Thats interesting about that it may be a Glastron hull ... I wonder if Don is still around ....
Not real fond of the brown sparkly thats on there .. Out there looking at it something is telling me maybe a red, white ,and blue paint scheme ... :usa:
Or we could get real funky and go "purple haze" .!! :hippie: It is a 79 ya know .....

That is a good score. Keep her nice and dry. That's the advantage of living where you do, you can go boating anytime. I just came in from clearing my driveway from snow for the last 2 hours. lol. The cottages look awesome. I'm jealous.

Vacation spot looks great, even if it wasn't 2*F outside, :watermelon::smow:

Need a moderately competent luggage porter or deckhand for the duration of your stay? :D

Nice re-purposed boat cover!

Well looky what the cat drug in !
Got a visit from our long time forum friend and all time awesome dude jbcurt ! Passing through to pick up the Admiral then heading for some r&r down south ..

Had a wonderful visit this afternoon . We were gunna put the MFG in the water but it was rainy and the wind was howling out of the northeast pretty bad and darn right chilly ...
I think he may have brought the cold with him from WV ! But thats ok we had a great time anyhow !
Heck we decided if we can't go boating lets head over to Lisa and Kelly's and visit them for awhile ..

All in all a great visit with a good friend !
Really enjoyed it John ! Thanks for stopping by our neck of the woods ! :)

Thanks for the great southern hospitallity Sam, i had a great time! I appreciate it.

Sams got a great setup, hes done an incredible job on a really nice house.

Between boats and the house hes certainly a jack of all trades.

It was my pleasure to meet you and your family. Next time, i'll bring the Admiral.

thanks again!

I'm thinkin' it would be a pretty close match!!!! And with your golden touch and a bit of work this winter on the motor and trailer I'm pretty sure you could get your money back!!!! I'd jump all over that for $100 bucks!!!!;)

Wow. Took some time here, read this post, very impressed with your boat! I learned alot from this, and for anybody trying to restore a boat, take a look at this page, for it will help you! The colors are just perfect! How does she handle in heavy seas? have you taken her in some rougher waters? ;0 I imagine she glides through it all though!

Thanks for stopping bye Chris ! Yeah this thing is kinda long ... But in between all the :blah: there may be a little useful info here and there ..
It was sure a lot of fun restoring her .. Best part is getting to know all the great people hear on the forum along the way !
She does cut through the chop pretty well and gives you a really dry ride ... She's a little tricky on the cornering . It ya take it too fast it feels like she lays down on her side .. Once you get used to it it's not a problem ..

Had my great niece and nephew in town from Arkansas ! Was able to take them surfing on one day then for a boat ride another day before they head back ..
My oldest Brother who is a retired Colonel Air force intel on the left was the original first family owner of the MFG ..
When stationed in Ft Walton he traded his wife's old orange Vega for it ... When he got stationed over seas he gave it to my father before he left ..
The last time he rode in the boat was in1978 .... He sure appreciated the way the e-tec performed over the old 55 four stroke Homelite that it came with ..

It was a fantastic afternoon ! Being the youngest of 7 kids I really did not get to spend much time with my Brother growing up ...
He was always just the brother that came to visit every now and then for a few days ...
Nice to finally be able to hang out with him for a while ..
