Re: Love, Necessity and Pride

Stuff has happened...
Got the two main forward bulkheads, PB'd and CSM'd in place...

The other two side to side bulkies are only there to help hold the mains in place...they ain't been made permanent, yet.

Putting together a short video that shows a little more detail...maybe have it ready by tomorrow or Monday...

Going back to the shop tomorrow to try and get a couple more things done before wrapping it up for the week...

Hope everyone is having an amazing weekend!:D

Ive got an 87 glasstream hydrabass 17v that my grandpa bought for is to fish out of back in the nineties, he has since passed away and I still have the boat. I'm hoping to dive in and check transom and stringers and may be doing this restore stiff in the near future. This thread is invaluable to me and I applaud you for such detail. I log on every day hoping to see a post from ya. Good work brother and look forward to more progress!! P.S. if I have to tear into it be prepared to be bombarded with questions!!!!

Thank you and welcome aboard!
If you decide to tear into your boat, I'll be happy to help in any way I can...
Just be sure to start your own restoration thread and post up here when you do, so I can jump on board.
Best Regards,
Gus

Nice looking stuff happening over this way. Looks great.

When will we see some of those awesome graphics talent here in your thread? I don't think we've seen a recent or a revised boat layout in a while :watermelon:

Looking forward to catching a video & final weekend update tomorrow or Monday.

As promised...a really quick look at installing the main bulkies...

Didn't get any footage of the actual glassing as it can get quite messy and I didn't want to risk messing up the camera...

Happy Monday gang...:joyous:

Looks good, Gus...wish I had a shop close by to do my dirty work..so tired of having everything on my back patio full of ground glass! Hey, what kind of wood are these bulkheads? It might be in your previous posts, but I'm just too darn tired tonight to look back. Oh & how 'bout this weather? Feeling a lot like summer...(a)so true, & (b)just rubbin' it in to all of our northern comrades!!

Thank you, Sir!
As soon as I can figure out how to package and ship some of this heat, I'll send it...

The shop became available to me after the new owners took over...before that, I spent the first half of this insanity either under the Blue Elephant [a.k.a. The Dust Dome] or out in the sweltering heat and rain...

Those bulkheads are made out of a very special and extremely rare wood that grows in only one place on earth...
My Living room turned temporary workshop...
Here are links to how, what and why I built them this way...

Start here...

In these you can see them actually take shape...

Here they are getting skinned on the other side...

And here they were getting glassed and ready for installation...

As far as the weather goes...I am a Southener in heart, but a Yankee when it comes to weather...I don't care for the deep freezes, but I sure do love those 40's to low 60's...:)

Once again Gus...great video and job is looking great. Only complaint is you need to slow it down a little in the video. Last time my head was spinning like that I think I had taken a few shots of that fine Mexican Cactus Juice, I only do tequila when I am too drunk to know what I am drinking and it wasn't my turn to buy. :very_drunk: Great job as always my friend.

Great GT production as usual !
Are those your sponsors at the bottom of the video ? :D
Tried to down load the GP editor but my puter is not compatible . It needed osx 10.6 and I have 10.5 . At least that's what my son said cuss I have no clue .

Hi guys,
Just a quick update...I did NOTHING to the Bassassin this weekend except stare at it for a few minutes while drinking a frosty and chuggin on a mini stogie while doin some grillin...
The real time was spent on my buddy's boat...trying to work out some engine bugs...
For a little heads up on what's goin on with that, check out this link...

Hope y'all had a super weekend and may the weather and boat gods smile upon us all!
Happy President's Day!:D
