Lost my best 4 legged friend ever.

Thursday I had to put my best 4 legged friend of 15 years to sleep. He was the the only dog I have ever had that would greet me everyday with a waging tail and big wet lick on the face. He helped me threw some bad times with my back injury when I was bed ridden for months and couldn't get up. Man it is so hard to come home and then .................. nothing but quiet dead air. Oh well guess he is with his girl friend who had to be put to sleep a few months ago so they are having a dog gone good time together now! Sleep well my 4 legged furry friend. Miss you very much

That has to be soooo hard. Please accept my sincere condolences. My best 4 legged friend sits with me every night, comes to work with me every day, and spends more time with me than my wife (and never argues with me too). The poor guy has arthritis and I dread the day he leaves me so I can understand how you feel. I am very sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss. My dog is my best friend, and I dread the day that I will have to say goodbye. It's hard that they are on a different life plain than us, but it is definitley worth it. They bring us so much joy every day.

Sorry to hear that. Pets are great friends, indeed. I had to put one of my cats down a few months ago. I got her from the local pound about 18 years ago, along with a male cat. The male died of natural causes (looked like a heart attack) first. She developed cancer in her jaw and the tumor grew very rapidly. I tried to keep her going for as long as doing so was humane, but eventually it became time.

So, like many others here, I can appreciate the feeling. Here's to your best buddy and the great friendship that he provided.

Sorry to hear that, I hated having to put my girls down, one of the hardest things I have even done...they ar indeed a special part of our lives and it really hurts when we have to let them go, but rest assured, they are in good company, I am sure at least one of my girls was just waiting on the other side of the rainbow bridge when your buddy arrived.

Like everyone else- sorry to hear your bad news. I had no idea how much you can love a dog until I got one. He's my best buddy and I really feel for you.

Thanks to all who have replied. I know that you are all animal lovers by what you said and I am sure you too someday will feel the same lose I have. There is no human who can do or act the way dogs do in our lives and love us so much without complaints. They tend to just stand there waging thier tails looking to us for that special pat on the head or scratch behind the ear and then give us 100 x's more love in return for it. People do not understand those of us who love animals the way we do because they do not understand the love and companionship that dogs can give back without asking for anything in return other then food, water and of course treats. Thank you all again.

I feel your pain. It was one of the toughest decisions to let our Dutchess go after fifteen good years.

She died in my arms almost a year ago to the day and I miss her every day.
