OK Ney Sayers! I completely swapped my damaged a1 gen 2 with my A1 gen 2 (including bell housing) and wahla!

Don't see anywhere in this thread where someone said you couldn't swap a gen 2 with a gen 2. In fact that is the most pragmatic approach to your initial issue

Unsure of why you also swapped bell housings unless the original didn't have the check valve for the gear lube monitor system in which case you'd need to add the through transom fitting, lines and monitor bottle

I thinking it’s a typo and he swapped a gen ONE bell housing and gen ONE drive on which bondo thought he could do with a little head scratching

Be interested to see how the bellows worked out as gen one and two are diff drive bellows

Yes, it was a typing error..."alpha 1 gen 1"...
The bellows on the "1" clamps on both ends, The "2" uses the ring...
However, the shift shaft on the "2" would not accommodate the "1" shaft footing...somehow it was too long so I swapped bell housings!
Thank you all for your direction and support...
