She has never gone fishing with me.:eek:hwell:

That sounds familiar, 64. After I got my Nassau and did my first splash, the Admiral said she was going out with me. I've stopped asking.

Nice job on the tach, looks brand, spankin' new. Hope it will work on the the 70 horse motor.

Maybe it's a good thing. :noidea::lol:

Thanks GA, The tach is in excellent condition. Just made it easier to see the needle.;)

Hoping it only takes about 6 months to find out.:becky:

That's some old school cool right there! So are there other gauges out there to go with the tach?

I have a temp gauge with a chrome bezel, but it may be broken. I'll try and find a ammeter to match.

Aqua Meter has a matching speedo that is very nice, but will most likely rely on my fish finder for speed.

Great looking gauge. Modern ones are nice but just don't have the stylishness of the old ones.

Thanks Willy, The new one's are also pretty pricey IMO.
The Aqua Meter cost $30 delivered. The seller was asking $50 plus shipping. Never hurts to ask. :whoo:

The project came with a 20 gallon fuel tank.

It will fit under the spashwell.

One issue is it will block easy access to the drain hole. I would have to plug it from the outside.

Another issue is pretty sure this is where the vent should be.

What would be the best way to allow this tank to vent? Remove this plug or drill it out and install a vent tube adapter.

Is there some other way to vent the tank from the fill tube?

Is that what looks like a plug in the vent way on the other end, 64?

Yes and Yes WW & GA.

Don't think below deck is an option with the structural foam supporting the floor and the size of this tank.

The starboard side of the hull does have a vent installed through the hull wall.

Did she have an under deck tank originally? I don't remember. This old gal is challenge after challenge. You're earning your stripes on this one, 64.

No under deck tank in the boat. My other option would be to use the 12 gallon that came with the donor.

I do like the idea of 8 extra gallons when needed and a tank that will read out the level on the dash not having to look under a seat or the splash well.

To me it looks like the plug has been welded in.

Agree with you regarding below deck installation due to foam integrity for structure. Even if you use a "quick-disconnect" system for holding that fuel tank down below the splashwell, it really will restrict access to the aft end of the boat and that kind of bothers me. I always used three, six gallon portables and tried to keep a full one forward for better weight distribution. Different strokes for different folks. You have to decide what works best for you!

The plug did come out. Think the PO put some JB Weld on it.

Picked up some new brass fittings which fill the hole and match the size of the hull vent barb.

Also found some thread sealant that is rated for gasoline.

Was thinking about access to the drain hole. Might look at placing a deck plate in the splashwell. Something like this.

Ol' Man Winter has kept me away from outside boat work for too many weeks. The boat has twice as much snow on top of the cover.

I did do a little more gathering.

Negotiated a 3 for the price of 2 from a xbay seller on a set of VDO gauges.

The black paint was very ugly. It would flake off with a little fingernail effort. While watching the Daytona 500 the paint was removed. Used a little Mothers Aluminum polish to clean them up.

Ended up like this. Not chrome but not too bad either.

Nice work

I used the snow and ice as motivation to dig thru a bunch of listings on ebay too.

Much nicer without the black paint. Keep up the beat down of the ebayers!

Nice score on the gauges. By the looks of all the snow in the first pic, I'm kinda glad I love up North:facepalm:
