Re: Light Bulbs

Look at the instructions that came with the light fixture. If it's rated for a 75 watt bulb, then NO, you can not put a 100 watt bulb in there! These ratings are on there for a reason................. :D

Yea, but the LAMP broke when I washed it with 409, and a very damp cloth.

Re: Light Bulbs

KaGee, I think you read it wrong. He wants to change the bulb in his lamp, not the whole lamp. I have a lamp on my end table and the cat knocked it over. My wife said "is the lamp still broke?" and I said "No, I fixture lamp." .....<br /> I'm feeling kind of confused...I wonder what was in that tea? :D

Re: Light Bulbs

There should be a sticker somewhere on the bottom of the fixture stating the amount of voltage and what the manufacturer says could be used or approved if made before a certain date, with certain bulbs superceding the size listed, with respect to the latest code requirements.

LOL...OMC! :D <br /><br />And another thing NY.... Make sure you bought those lightbulbs from an ELECTRICAL HOUSE....and NOT a BIG BOX RETAILER! <br /><br />Only the ELECTRICAL HOUSE lightbulbs at 4 times the cost of the BIG BOX RETAILER's price will pass the ELECTRICAL CODES. Please refer to the National Electrical Code, Section 7, Page 34, Subsection 8, Paragrah 2. <br /><br /> :p

Just tell your wife to do it, then tell her to make you a sandwich.

Re: Light Bulbs

I've never really changed a bulb. But a buddy of mine says you need a pair of vice grips, a pair of tow straps, and some pancake syrup for some reason. Since he is a candle-maker, I'd really have to consider him in expert.<br /><br />Otherwise, try Googling it.<br /><br />Sean

Re: Light Bulbs

Well, if it was an incandescent bulb in your lamp I suggest that you consider a flourescent replacement.<br /><br />The flourescents are smoother, quieter and last about 10 to 50 times as long while burning far fewer watts to make the same amount of light. The bottom line is far less expensive over the life of the bulb.<br /><br />Kalipornia is considering banning incandescent bulbs because they waste so much energy and clutter up landfills with non-biodegradable, non-recyclable failed units. :D

I disagree with the flourescent lamp theory. Thomas edison created a single filiment light using a vacuum. By using flourescent bulbs you are not a true american. Also incandecent lights put out a lot more heat energy. Think of all the money you will save by not having to heat your house.

Are you suggesting that the vaccum was invented BEFORE the light bulb? :D
