Re: Latest photos from new home "Pub"

Awesome, I want one !!!

Not that hard to make. More time than anything.....oh yes and depending on what species of wood you use more money. We have waited long enough for this so we have gone oak with everything. We love the grain in oak as well. Stains and clear coats very well.
Go ahead....build yourself one. Alwhite and I can give some tips if necessary.

Really, Really nice - Great job.

Thank you so much for the kind words. Mrs Ken and I are heading to Costa Rica on Friday for 10 days so work will cease till we get back. Finish plumbed the sink tonight and installed all the door catches. (the little bits !!) Bar top slab will be ready for pick up when we get back (still in the kiln) chosen for the grain it has. Hoping to be open for St Patricks Day. Time will tell !!!!

Latest update.
Back from Costa Rica and found that the oak for the bar top in the kiln is still not quite dry enough. Should be good by the weekend (hopefully) then gangbusters to get it made, finished and installed. In the meantime I tried to play "catch up" at work after the vacation and made the optic back board and fitted the dispensers. Drum set has been stained and has the first coat of the shiny stuff applied. Another coat on the main bar. The smaller drums are inside the bigger drums in the photos.
More photos to follow as things progress.

Bar countertop arrives tomorrow it will be all systems go to get it finished and fitted. Be a while with the stain and shiny stuff though. It will be getting a LOT of coats and sandings between coats.
In the meantime I have done a lot of cleaning up, been on a business trip and over the weekend got the drum set hardware back on, added three over the bar smaller pot lights with dimmer switch and finished the bar switch panel off. Then baseboard, door trim and we are ready to start putting all the "pub" stuff in place. Oh, almost forgot the stemware rack is stained and has it's first coat of the shiny stuff currently drying.

Looks great as usual - where are you mounting the stemware rack?

Wall end of the bar is where the stemware rack is going. Was originally thinking of an overhead over the bar with the stemware rack on the under surface but have since decided against it as I would not be able to see the TV fully from behind the bar.

Post some pics when you get it mounted. I want to build a back bar this fall/winter and was thinking of something wall mounted over the mirror for the stemware, just thinking out loud here.

Stemware rack in the back bar is a great idea. 2 potential issues.
1. You lose some of the light effect and visual effect of the mirror depending on how much mirror is still showing.
2. If you are limited for space (depth) then you will not get many glasses in there. My back bar is only 10.5" deep. Reason is for the effect of a back bar with stepped bottle shelves and to maintain more floor space for the rest of the room.
Just my thoughts though. Will post photos when mine is in place.

Stemware rack finished, fitted and in place. A few sample glasses in place on it. Watch this space for the bar counter top. DSC06560.jpgDSC06562.jpg
