Truth often suffers more by the heat of its defenders, than from the arguments of its opposers.

Re: Is security worth giving up some freedom?

Going on the selling of guns. I used to do the federal paperwork for hunderds of sales a year. I only refused 3. If you don't answer the questions right no gun sale was only 1 of the three. One other was when it got to be paperwork time the person could not fill out the paperwork. The final one was when we started I did not smell alchol but soon realized that there was a problem. This person had looked at the gun a few days before and knew exactly what they wanted so I did not have much of a conversation with them except after we started the paperwork.
This said it I thought we had a background check system in place in most states now. We do here and it is a short phone call to perhaps a day or so wait if your name is harder to track. I still don't think it keeps criminals from buying guns because some ex-cons have been busted at home with recently bought firearms.
As to tracking a gun from paperwork that states I bought it to a crime scene that is the biggest crock of $hit I have ever heard. Anyone here besides me ever have a gun stolen???(don't answer I know many of you have) If ever a gun of mine turns up at a crime scene it would have had to been stolen because if I ever use my gun in defense of myself I will wait till the cops arrive as long as I am in a safe location and if not I will report to the local police station myself to sort it out. Knowing that someone owns a 9mm will not help in solving a crime as how many other people own one. Suspects are already suspected long before anyone knows they own a gun. What will happen is it makes legal gun owners top of the list suspects for any crime committed. Balistics being the science it is you can tell (unless you change something) which gun fired which bulett. What are they gonna do test fire ever gun in the US for a sample? I realy don't think so. The next logical step would be call in all gunowners of such and such caliber and have then fire a round for testing. Are they gonna do that? Yeah right like I would even show up if I did it and back to the stolen gun as an excuse even if I am guilty.
What all of it boils down to is someone somewhere wants to know exactly how many and what types of guns I and everyone else owns. This scares the he!! out of me. Why would my government need to know what I as a legal law abiding citizen of the USA what kinds and types of guns I own? What possible reason do they have? I am not a criminal and have never broken anything but the speed limit as far as laws go. Why is my governmet treating me like a criminal? What have I done wrong? What will they ask for next a sample of genetic material to purchase a gun? Perhaps that just want to make sure I have nothing that has been recalled and is safe for me to use? Yeah that's it the only reason I can think of as legit. LOL Nope the Government within the government is calling the shots here and in many other places and what they want is total control. These people want to be ready when they decide to disarm the populace before taking over and I for one don't plan on letting it happen.

Hey, peterfishbuster,During the news coverage of these two alleged serial snipers some spokesman from wherever was saying that all recently manufactured firearms have the serial no. and ballistic fingerprints on record from the manufacturer. Is this a wash or is this something that is in the making?
