I realize fiberglass is more durable. But 10 gallons of resin plus 1708 will be over $300, were as a few gallons of paint is much cheaper. I am planing on using marine grade carpet runners on the foot paths.

I was going to use 3/4" ply because it would hold up better with my son and I's big butts LOL.
just redid floor on aquasport and went with 2 half inch sheets and a layer of csm between , on bottom and about to start doing top , we grow em big in Florida and i dont wanna ever hear that glass crack from someone, :)

Something just came to mind...
My fiber glass gunwales.

On my used project boat there are some things installed already on the gunwales. The rod holders are flopping loose, the cleats aren't very secure either. There are some existing holes I need to patch. The rails seem secure at the bow.

I'm planning on relocating the cleats and rod holders. I don't want to just secure them into the fiberglass. What I was wondering...? Would I be better off installing aluminum supports under the gunwale or just go with wood? If wood, what is the best way to water proof it? Non-pressure treated I'm assuming and then poly resin?
