hi im new to all this boating but i was just got a free boat 74 glastron 162 with a 70 hp merc that seams to run great. my real problem is that the floor is all roted so i pulled it all up, pulled all the foam. now for the transom i hit it with a hammer and it seams to me its ok but i know it has some water in it bc the wood is a littel damp but only the middle pice the sides seam dry but when i hit it in the middle and low with a screwdriver i only gos in less than 1/4". the gelcoat has no stress cracks at all even nere the bolts for the motor. the stringers seam to have rot and i plan to reinforce them. i came up with the plan to put a 3 1/2' long by 1/4' by 3' wide thick pice of steal where the two small washers are for the o/b go to strangthen the transom. do you think this will give it more life the transom that is. and with the sringers i wont to put more cross pices and fiberglass the them in and then the same with the new floor. here is a pic of what i have done
