My ol' buddy and his son took me out to breakfast at our favorite eatery :hungry: this morning and while there, I discussed my box cutting situation. Ol' Charlie said that I could use his air-powered cutoff tool. Cool! :tea:

So a little later he dropped by and we did the markup on the box, grabbed the air cutter and started cutting. Alas, my old HF special, 2HP, 8 gallon compressor couldn't keep up with the grinder. We'd cut awhile, wait awhile for it to catch its breath, cut some more, etc.

So, during one waiting period I grabbed my jigsaw and gave it a try. It cut through that stuff like butter! Excellent! We made short work of it after that. :joyous:

I used a triangle square to get the cut lines straight.

Well guys, I did figure out a solution for the logo situation. I'll address it later as there are a bunch of different options available in the solution set and I need to choose the one I want to use.

But I'll be "correcting" the "reversed" logo when I get the KF done. And y'all are gonna love it! :D

fetch

What the? That gives me a headache.

So you really still think that there's a logo situation?

Yeahhh.... my wife looked at it this evening and immediately said... "YES!!"

Looks like more work for me ahead. Painting that area means changing how we load/unload the boat and more.

That "backwards" logo is actually how it appears from the port side if the standard sticker is used.

I've got something cooking which is completely different. But it'll be awhile. I have other priorities in the meantime, like getting the boat painted and back together. Patience, grasshopper... :D

This evening the boy and I went out and got the stern area stripped, cleaned up, the groove cut and so on. Then we tilted the boat. Something I'd not done last week but which I did do when I initially sealed the boat a few years ago.

After the boat was tilted, I applied the Gluvit. It puddled up around the suspect areas. Keeping my fingers crossed here! :positive:

This is how I had the boat tilted back in 2015. At least I'm indoors now! :tongue-new:

Okay master, as long as we're on the same page. You don't think the decals available are wrong, as in not the same as factory you just want them your way. Right?

Found a Kingfisher logo I like and modded it up a bit. It would be used in conjunction with a Starcraft logo of course.

I obviously wouldn't use it this big. This is just to show what it looks like.

Hi guys. Sorry for any confusion but the boat will be black and white, not black and silver.

It just looks silvery in the picture because I overlaid white at 50% over the bare aluminum so that the details show through. If I made it solid white it would look bad in the pic.

While waiting for the leak test, I did a little more stripping.

Stripper glopped on.

After a quick pass with a plastic scraper. That decal leftover was a surprise.

After a few swipes with the brass brush, all gone! I'll do a final cleanup after I do the other side.

After a 7 hour leak test, NO leaks! :whoo:

Nothing at the stern and nothing on the floor. Woohoo! :D

And after awhile we shoved it back inside. Rain in the forecast again. Nothing else to see here... movin' along! :)

While the KF was draining outside, I stripped the Merc cowl some more. I still want to hit it with some mineral spirits and get the itsy bitsy stuff off, but it's looking much better. Is that thing cad plated? It has that gold/bronze hue.

Looking Very Nice. Bet your extremely excited to be among the dry boaters Club. 😂

Cowl is looking good too. I know this was not an easy task. Seems like the rain doesn't quit for you.

Great news!! No Leaks!! :thumb:
I don't recall what it's called, but I have read here on I-boats about a treatment to prep bare aluminum and it will turn it a golden color.. I know it starts with an A and I'm to lazy to find it tonight..

She sure would look good with polished sides and the black bottom..:laser:

It's Alodine that turns AL that color, it's a chromate conversion coating.

The only thing I will say about painting a boat black is that in the sun it gets really, really hot. Too hot to lean on the rails and such... just a thought.
