So I went out to the garage awhile ago and while walking out there I noticed that it was very foggy. Then I got a whiff and it was smoke, not fog! I didn't last long out there and came back into the air conditioned house. Turns out that the forestry service is conducting a controlled burn well north of us but that atmospheric conditions are keeping the smoke low and moving slowly. At one point, visibility was down to less than 1/2 a mile.

One more thing on my list of things to do soon is to have the fenders welded to the trailer frame. I bought 'em about 2 1/2 years ago and they've just been laying around since then.

Found them while I was looking for something else and laid one on top of a tire to show what it's like. I hope I'll have room to install vertical guide-ons and side bunks too. :)

Have you emailed any of the sellers to see if they make the left and right logos? I know on mine they were both reading from left to right on both sides..
Someone must make them..

No, not yet. I'd hoped that someone else was as finicky as I am and had found a left/right set somewhere. Maybe I'm just too picky...

No, your not to picky.. I'm with you on that one.. I think it would look strange one reading forward and the other reading backwards..
Not that hard to make a left and right decal..

The decals don't read backwards from one side to the other, it's the SC logo, he wants it on the forward side of Starcraft on both sides.

I don't know where you'll find what you're looking for, all of the decals I've seen are the duplicated decals.

Here is the original plastic 1979 SC with logo on my SS, forgot i had a pic. Oh no the logo is in the back! Guess where the logo is on the other side?

The Starcraft logo is after the word "Starcraft" on both sides of my boat. So it's the same decal on both sides.

Yeap on all the older models it's like that with the logo at the end of the word, only the new models have the logo on the front side of the Starcraft. Below is a 2018 SFM.

If that's the way you want your KF that's great but you'll need to make some decal swaps or go custom made.

So here I sit. In the ER.

Again.

Tried to make some progress this afternoon too. No joy. Of course, that was AFTER I locked my keys in the truck when I was at HF!

Bought walnut blast media. Used it on the hood this evening. Didn't work. Didn't even CLEAN the paint! :blue:

Right now, while awaiting my turn to see the doc, I'm working on resizing pix.

Tough day. Blech.

HF has a "no return" policy for blast media if it's been opened. But the walnut product description says it's for removing paint from aluminum. Didn't work at all. Maybe I can get store credit so I can get something more aggressive?

I was using 90 PSI air pressure.

This morning we're sitting at the car dealer having the first service performed on my wife's new car.

Time for thinking and planning. I'm currently hoping for a re-splash on the first day of spring. Maybe. LOL!

I'm trying to get all my ducks in a row now. I need to finish stripping the boat topsides and the motor. And I have to strip the storage box too. I also plan to put a second coat of paint on the side walls of the hull inside, using hardener this time.

There's still a ton of work to do before a splash.

OH!! I forgot to mention that I'm thinking of cutting the storage box in half and using the two pieces as seat stands. I'll have to fab up end pieces for those. That big box is 3 feet long, clunky and takes up a lot of space. Thoughts on that idea? :joyous:

BWR1953 hopefully Harbor Freight does some thing for you. Your not trying to rip them off it's just that their product did not work as described.

I like the idea of splitting the box and using for seat bases. Hardener is definitely a good idea. I'm like you, any down time and I'm thinking build ideas. Lots of time I draw or not down on my phone for later. Have bow plans I formed last year. 😂

We had a great day today. Made progress on the KF too! :D

After we had my wife's car oil changed we went to a nice restaurant for lunch over the water!

Nice place. Our first time there but it won't be the last, that's for sure. Great food, nice view and super staff.

This afternoon the boy and I went out to the garage to get KF stuff done.

I used a rotary tool to cut into the seam and grind out the Gluvit there. I was careful not to go too deep and accidentally cut a rivet! I didn't reach any obvious voids but a couple of times I did "run into" some of the original Starcraft sealant. Maybe that was a good thing?

The next step was to mix up some Gluvit! I uh, "borrowed" a household tablespoon sized measuring spoon so that I could accurately mix the 5:1 Gluvit to catalyst ratio.
8.jpg

I mixed up too much of the Gluvit, as usual. But I glopped it all on there so that it can work its magic.

And then this happened! I was literally in the middle of applying the Gluvit when my wife walked into the garage and asked what I was doing. So I showed her. At that point she said that we needed to leave! Huh? Turns out she'd ordered Chinese take-out and we needed to go pick it up. :D

So we did and the boy and I had ours out in the garage! Man, I have a 3 day supply of General Tso's chicken.

After dinner it was time to work on the storage box/seating situation. We needed to get it apart so that the metal can be stripped. I'll also have to fabricate new seat bases as well as waterproof them using the Old Timers Formula. :yo:

11.jpg

Some kind soul decided that the best way to attach the seats to the base was by hammering the bolt heads into the wood! :mad2:

And we got the seats off just fine.

Yah, by breaking the box into two sections, I can still use them under a pair of the seats for storage but provide a more functional layout pattern.

Something like so. The captain and rearmost seats would have the storage boxes underneath. I'm also planning on moving the trolling motor to the port side to help with weight balance.
