Yah! We baited it with some leftover Popeye's chicken bones from dinner tonight. Spicy and mild.

Plus, my wife threw in some leftover Filipino bulat... smoked, dried fish that's pan fried. Smells like road kill! No cooking that stuff inside the house. Eww. I know that opossums like smelly stuff, but that stuff is nasty!

Heard a noise outside a bit ago.

It must have liked the bulat! All the bait is gone but no critter in the cage! We had the bait plate accidentally blocking the trigger mechanism. D'oh!

The bait plate was full of chicken bones. Not just a couple small ones but a full man-sized double handful. All gone! That wasn't some little kitty cat moving that much stuff.

And no pix of anything again. Am not sure if it's a trail cam problem or plain ol' operator error. Silly human. I'll get it figured out. Eventually. :frusty:

Will try again tomorrow.

Trap sprung. Bait gone. No critter. No pix. Sigh. :blue:

Set the trap last evening with a couple chicken bones and a can of cat food. The bones were gone this morning and the cat food was untouched. The trap had sprung though. :noidea:

The camera got lots of pix of the boy and me setting up the trap, so I know it's working right. But it took absolutely no pix after that. Frustrating.

Going to the VA doc this morning. Scary stuff happening with my vision. :twitch:

If your camera has a sensitivity setting for the proximity and infrared sensor, set it to its highest level. You may get more pictures of birds and mice, but it ought to catch the 'possum or perhaps Chupacabra in the act. (Not sure they will show up on a camera). Sorry to hear you are feeling bad. I had a scare with GCA diagnosis several years ago, but now they don't think I have it. I never had the biopsy. Anyway, good luck.

Just got home a few minutes ago from my doc appointment which was at 1300 local.

They admitted me as an inpatient to the ER and I was fully evaluated by Neurology, Ophthalmology and Rheumatology.

Nothing dangerous found and I was sent home, but with a med change. Switching from Prednisone to Methylprednisolone. That's what I had for the booster shot last week which helped tremendously.

I'm going to be closely monitored for awhile. Maybe weekly visits just in case. They're not exactly sure what's going on but it could be that my body doesn't want to metabolize the Prednisone anymore or that I may have had a "spike" reaction from the increased dosage that I started 3 days ago.

So far, so good.

I'll have to check if this camera has those adjustments. I don't remember seeing them on the setup menu but I'll look more closely tomorrow.

No trap setup tonight due to my ER trip. However, we bought some Buffalo wings and will be saving those bones for tomorrow night! :D

Yeah, this GCA stuff sucks. Mine was confirmed via biopsy back in April.

So my neighbor just asked me if he can use the little Kingfisher to help a gator trapper get a couple nuisance animals from a small local pond. "Sure" says I... then asked about the gators. One is a 5 footer. No problemo. The other one is fifteen feet long!!! That's almost as long and easily much heavier than the boat! :faint2:

Do I ask him to take video? Or should I go along and have a freakin' cannon at the ready??

This is the camera that I have. It's a Bushnell 119513C and has a 5MP camera. No IR or proximity adjustments.

One thing I learned is that the Owner's Manual instructions don't actually match how the unit operates. Explains why I was having setup problems.

The OM says that the max range is 40 feet but the online specs say 30 feet. Could be that the cam is just out of range. Will place it in a different spot tonight. And the OM also says that trigger time is less than 1.3 seconds, whereas the online specs show a 1.6 second trigger time. Jeez.

I'll try it a few more times and if it still doesn't work I'll send it back and buy a better camera.

Hmmm

Trap triggered

Bait gone

Not captured on film

I think someone said it earlier, but its sounding more and more like you have a La Chupacabra infestation:

GET OUT!

while you stll can ........

Good luck w the new tech data helping to solve the mystery

I'm back. Had another tough couple of health days but am carrying on.

Will try again to capture ol' Chupracabra tonight. Didn't even try for the last couple days with all the ER stuff and whatnot going on. Just didn't feel up to the task.

Last night we figured out that we'd apparently had it trapped under the house for the last couple of days after we blocked off the access hole the other night! Heard it trying to get out so we went out and unblocked the hole.

Going to try moving the camera and relocating the live trap as well. Have some Pizza Hut chicken wing bones for bait this time.

On the Starcraft and boating front... we went to the St. Petersburg Boat Show today. Pretty impressive for my family. They'd never walked around on multi-million dollar yachts before. Will be starting a couple threads about that once the pix are all organized. :joyous:

BUSTED!!

Problem solved. :D

In the pix the monster was still trying to dig its way out of the cage. Mean cuss.

Not happy with the trail cam. It didn't capture images of the animal walking or going into the cage. It only took pix when my wife and I went out to investigate with the flashlight even though it was only about 15' away from the cage. Dunno if I'll send the cam back or not. Will mull that over for a bit.

The beastie started growling at me when it saw me walk up. Grrrr!!!

It's trying to crawl out of the cage so it can chomp me!!

I hear possums is best served fricasse'd or fried. Tastes like chicken

Any chance of a pardon if the critter agrees to patrol the perimeter for the 2-legger varmints?

Here's hoping it was a solo invader...
