Re: I have another boat in my sights. UPDATE 12-24-2010 SEA RAY 220 FOUND!!!
Guys, I am sick to my Stomach. It looks like I was taken for a sucker with this boat. I was going over the boat today and stepped on the far edge of the port side of the deck and it felt spongy. My heart sank. I started stepping around that area sure enough it was soft. I grabbed my screwdriver and started punching around, and at one point it went through. I nearly threw up at that point, as I knew what was coming next. I grabbed my utility knife and started to cut away the fiberglass veneer and found my worst nightmare. The "new" deck was installed over wet and rotting stringers. It is bad guys. I got alot of the deck out today and there has to be 500 pounds of wet foam under that deck. On the surface it was fine, until you stepped in just the right spot. Once I started cutting, you could see it was just a matter of time until the rest of the deck would have rotted though. I am just furious that I did not catch that when I was buying it. Now that I look back I remember that there were life jackets and a cooler sitting in that spot. So I guess you live and learn, and this will be a very expensive mistake. I sent an email to the seller, but I do not think I will ever hear back. They are scott free.
The problem is with this rebuild it that I do not think I have the room to rebuild a boat this big. We are going to look into renting a warehouse for a few months to get this done, and I hope that I can find the energy to do this all over again.
I am so pissed I cannot bring myself to post pictures or any video right now.
