Re: I have another boat in my sights. UPDATE 12-24-2010 SEA RAY 220 FOUND!!!
Man, that is terrible, do you have any email threads or other documentation that the PO sent where he indicated the floor AND stringers were rebuilt. I would take it to a fiberglass shop and get an estimate, then send a certified letter from an attorney with pictures of the rot and tell the PO that they need to reimburse you for this as this is clearly fraud. Did you sign anything that indicated "Sold as is". I think you have a legit case here and it could be handled in small claims court. Maybe he will split the difference with you on the cost of the repairs. I would not just take it though, you were clearly swindled. Who knows, maybe he was taken by the shop that did the work as well, maybe he paid a bunch of money for what he thought was a complete repair, and the shop did a hack job, hard to say, but I would at least try to get some money back. Doesn't hurt to ask. On the issue of having the space to do the repair, do you have an open area to work in, if so you can get one of those Costco 10X20 garages that would work great as a temp workshop. just add some 2" two foot pipes to the legs to make it tall enough to walk around in the boat. Might be cheaper than renting a shop.
