That Merc from searay is interesting, but I got a stupid question. What does the Bravo 3 designation on it mean? oops! has a brand new bravo 3 drive sitting there not being used. Can someone tell me why he can't use it on his boat, seems to be a waste of a good drive.

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

yeah....but its the spin speed we need for boats....thats why 6k for revs.

thats also why all the unlimited hydroplane boats...like miss budwieser, (the kind that used to come for thunderfest) use old huey helecopter motors.

tremendous horse power and spin speed......if i remember correctly.....around 20k rpms

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

That turbine works for me LOL. It turns at 19,500 rpm and they geared it down to turn 6000 rpm at the shaft. Wonder how fast oops! boat would go with a 1 to 1 ratio? :D Too bad it needs a 96" engine compartment, nothing another 5 or 6 ft in his hull wouldn't cure . http://www.turbinemarine.com/turbine_standard.html

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

There was a small bock with a B&M style blower in the local trading post here. I'll try and find out some more about it. A supercharged sb with a quick and quiet exhaust could give you that upper end power, and still let you cruise slow like you said you do most of the time. Most naturally aspirated engines built to the hilt don't like to be idled or run at lower rpms.
