Polarized and progressive to be sure Ralph! ThanksOriginally posted by Ralph:
Looks great Boom! You better be wearing sunglasses when you open your engine compartment on the water
Thanks Rob. As far as lifting the motor by the carb studs, it's a common practice. Because my manifold is aluminum I was a bit skeptical but many assured me it is commonly done. I didn't want to set the motor down until the paint cured.

I spent 1K with a private detective to get a looksee inside the garages of a group of likely suspects but nothing ever appeared. Right now it is a dead issue.Originally posted by Rob Poe:
Lookin sharp. Didn't know you could hoist a motor by the carb bolts though

Guess so, eh?

I hadn't seen that someone relieved you of your motor. Did you ever find 'em to remove their testes?
Thanks Mark! Tomorrow is a big day. Gonna find out if measuring twice was good enough for all the pre-drilled and treated mounting holes to line up.Originally posted by Mark42:
You probably think that's real cool, right? I bet you think everyone is going to be impressed, right?

Well, your right!

Nice work, Boomy!
The set for the drivers seat were make from some iron hard jungle wood. I bought it from a wood salvage yard. They had it labled as mahogany but it was so hard I had to have it cut by a commercial shop. The other set was made from some white hardwood from the same shop. Don't remember what it was either.

Both sets are made of two laminations then cut to contour. Soaked them both in CPES and painted them with an industrial enamel. The extentions are screwed onto the seat bases then lag bolted thru the whole sheebang into the floor and support blocks underneat.

...and yes, the motor mount holes did line up with the motor mount feet. It is finally in...Whew!Originally posted by Mark42:
Those seat risers do look factory. What did you make them from? Plywood? Fiberglass? If you hadn't said you made them I would have thought they were original.

Don't sweat the holes. I'm sure with your attention to detail, they will line up perfect.

Mark
