there is no loss there you still pay to register it once a year. you just don't have "Title" for the boat. Here you have one for the trailer. so they get revenue that way too.

In Oklahoma our tag is based on what the vehicle cost.
If wee didn't pay on outboards a $40K outboard and bass boat would tag for much less than a $40k in board ski boat.

You know reliability is an issue with them, that is why you used your qualifying statement. Parts are getting harder and harder to come by, even if they did simplify maintenance.

I agree... 3 strikes... move on. Just more of a head ache than any gain you may get form it.

Personally, I prefer to pick on Volvo I/O's, Expensive and built to stay that way. (Bayliners are fun to poke fun at too ) Speaking of Volvo's, doesn't the VP dealers sell Cobra parts? They bought OMC sterndrive for that design...

Not sure how it is elsewhere, but here in MO I have twice in the last year checked into getting a boat and motor titled. To say the least it is a red tape nightmare. More often than not it is impossible. No title? No sale with me.

Some states make it hard.

Indiana is boat and trailer, the boat gets a sticker and the trailer a plate,nothing for the engine.

When I first registered it she ask me how much it was new, as if I would know that, it was 19 year old when I got it, apparently they prorate the tags from new.
