Re: Got me a Starchief

Thanks guys....
No boating this weekend, I believed the weather forecasts that there would be thunderstorms all weekend. Well, there were a couple but no big deal. Anyway, last weekend we took a ride to Cabelas and I picked up a stereo kit on sale so this weekend I put it in. I even took pictures....

Radio with speakers - $75. Housing from my local boat place - $23

Made a frame with 1" aluminum square tube to make it flush with the cabin ceiling ribs

1/2" MDO speaker mounts

Now I can listen to some music while fishing...
Have a great sunday night!

Re: Got me a Starchief

Even though it isn't 100%, I'm declaring this project complete. I finally replaced what was missing in the cabin, I modified it a bit to use some cheezy plastic drawers for storage. I was originally intending on repainting the interior of the cabin, but it cleaned up fairly nice. The original paint isn't in the best of shape, but my fear of getting a good long lasting paint job overcomes the need for the flashyness of it. For cushions, I found some outdoor furniture cushions on clearance at KMart, between the sale and a gift card we found on the floor of our store, the 2 pads ended up costing only $6.00. Future small projects on the boat will be to add some cockpit lighting, paint the cabin benches, and add an electric anchor winch. All in all though, I have enjoyed the project as much as I have enjoyed using the boat so far.
Here are the required latest pics....

Excellent work RH!!! I've been asleep at the wheel on your thread. I envy your quality workmanship.

I enjoy the carp out of my Starchief also. She's a '66. As you know the projects never end......that's what makes all our girls fun.

Maybe you need a removable table???:D

P.S. Those black barstool seats aren't there anymore.....part of another one of those "projects".;)

Thanks DW. I have to say when I first got this boat I found some of your postings and was inspired by the woodwork on your boat. I like that removable table idea, I may just have to do something like that!
Right now I'm focused on some lighting for night fishing, and I've got an idea brewing for a removable livewell that connects to the inlet/outlet from the toilet that is no longer in the boat.
Thanks for swinging through!

Don't flush when the livewell is full. Nice find on the cushions.

Thanks RF. I couldn't be happier with this boat. I enjoy it every time I take it out. Thanks for selling it to me!
