Ok guys I was told by a very good source that I dont need the matt if i am useing epoxy , So i get to take off 48.00 so new total is $ 553.20 thank you sir , saved me 50 bucks and a couple hours !!!!! John

Ok guys and gals !!! couldnt stand it no more had to get out there for a bit today , took off a couple hour from work and got out there and got a little bit more grinding done !! this is what i got left !!!

ok this next pic is a spot where I think you would call them stress cracks , the frist pic is a long shot and the next two are closer of them , there kind of hard to see , think i should clean them out a bit more and the going to glass over this spot ???? there is a couple on the other side to but not as bad as on this side !!!!

ok here are some pics of the hole thing !!! still got a little bit of grinding to do on the transom also , I get a real weekend off this week friday sat and sunday , !!! usally have tue wed off so wont get back out there till friday

still a little bit confused about bedding the stringers, read oops tread and he is using 5200, thought he told me to us peanut butter{cabisal] sp } ??/

Hi all , well got allmost all the grinding done ! and i say all most cause I go a little to do where the deck is going in ! and thats it ! I hope ! I just spent the last hour fighting with photobucket, it wont resize my pics . keeps shutting down when i go to resize to 680x400 , just kicks me out ! so I am just posting it as is !

the next pic is just the transom area done !!! cant belive I am saying its done grinding !!! yeeeeehhhhaaaaaa !!! lol spent about 2 hours with the shop vac, and taking all the snap off going to get started on cleaning the hull and all , getting ready for paint !!! so still got lots to do !!! John

The bedding material isn't all that critical, it's just needed to keep the stringer off the hull and many small boat builders don't use any thing at all.

This is about begging the stringers

in a regular re-fit peanut butter is just fine.

I have done some research... pl9000 ..preimum...is not that much differerent than 5200....in fact may be better....but..... its poly based...that means poly on poly.

and they didnt use any bedding in mine it was resined right to the hull , when I was grinding the old glass and resine out I was still grinding wood out.John

OOOHHHH MAN it was one of them days !!!! well it stared last night when i was reading on a transom storie , well they were talking 1 1/2 inch !!! and i was thinking why is mine allmost two inchs ??? well i did measure the old transom when i took it out !! 2 inchs !! well i go to thinking about it last night , it was bugging me couldnt fall asleep know i seen 3:30 tossing and turning , well when i got up , [ had the day off } well I got out there and had the kids out there we lowered the top down , and sure enough it was to thick !! when i took out the old transom I wasnt thinking about it , but it was water logged and swelled up !!! and that wasnt the worst part of the day yet , was backing up and had the shop vac in there , well steped on the hose and down i went !!!!!!!!!!! *#&^$%^#@**$&$#^^#*$&&*^ well when i went down hard I hit the brace holding the top up and landed on the top !!!!

Man it just s**ked my butt still hurts !!! so got to fix this to now !!!! what a day !!!! john

Ps got to get some new plywood , just one piece for the transom 3/4 John

HAHAHA had to wait for my butt to stop hurting !!!! lol As a mater of fact I was in her today !! More grinding , cut the second piece of plywood for the transom , got it drying, light and Fan going !!

Hay oops on the transom , I guess Its the canblio [ or how ever you spell it ] it on the transom and thats what i was grinding today , man that thing is uneven , got about 60 precent out , got it to where the glass is threw in a hole bunch of spots , its not going to hurt if i leave whats left !! I will get a pic later , heres one of the old ones ,

Ok what is that over the glass ?? and if you look close to the bottom is the same stuff , well all thats gone now and most of it on the transom . do you think it will hurt to glass right over it ?? then put the plywood in like you did ?

Ok what the heck is that stuff on the transom , it was ruff grinding !! John

! got to finish cutting stringers in !! getting some marine-tex tomarrow to start on the hull !! was talking with wife last night and hopig next week to get it all orderded !!!

I doing a lot better back still a little sore when i turn the right way !! OHH man got to grind where i split her !!! &*$&^^$(( lol

And that stuff was ruff grinding hard as rocks !!!

Hay guys !!! well i finally got back on her for a few strated polying the center stringer got two coats on one side of it , and also got two coats on the braces that sit next to the transom , put 4 and 5 coats on the one side of the transom and on the second piece i have 3 and four done so one more coat on the one side then just getting the other side done , Also been grinding out some of the spots that for the marine-tex !!

Still waiting on getting the order out , said something to the wife the otherday and she talked me into waiting till after the holiday , So i got a plan !!! ahahhaha ok just wanted to let everone know whats going on !!! john

Man i love the service from U S Composities , Just got a phone call from mark there , he was looking at my order and called me saying I had ordered the thick epoxy which wouldnt wet out the glass !!! so he said i should get the thin!! Order will be shiped frist thing in the morning !!! I have worked with epoxy before but I guess never with the thick !!! so I am really glad he called !!! we need more shops like that !!! John

OK guys and gals !! the transom is in , well at least two coats of glass 7oz eglass !!!want to get one more of the 10oz egalss on the transom !! then hit the stringers tomorrow !!!!

Man ooops that zero bubblies is a pain it the [ you know what ] [ when glassing there is No bubbles allowed ]

Ok everyone Well I didn't get as far as i wanted to today but got some of it , got the 3 layer of 10 oz eglass on the transom , OOOHHH yea when i got in her this morning I pulled on the transon and man It didn't move but a 1/4 inch where the old transom moved 3/4 or more she is solid

I did get the first layer og 7 oz on the braces
One more thing I did epoxy two pieces of the composite together yesterday , well i got a pipe wrench on the one and tride to get them apart , nope it didnt break it was stuck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that was the other pic that i lost this morning , I will take it again tomrrow !! John

Ok I need a expert !!! On the stringers there was a cross brace [ i guess you call it ] sitting on the top , it was free floating , do i need to leave it free or can i glass it in place ???
I been thinking about it for a while and know the boat is going to twist and with it glassed in will it put stress in the spots where it touches the hull ??? or if i glass it in and glass the ends to the hull will t just twist the hull with it ?? thanks John
