Most poly resin are made in only a few places so the brand really doesn't matter .But you do want to get laminating resin with no wax in it .
Iboats does sell it but there are other places ...Fresh is best . Try and stay away from the bondo brand in the big box stores . It contains wax and has usually been sitting around for a while ..

If you can find it local you may get it cheaper due to the haz-mat charge, and weight of fiberglass mat and 1708. US Composites and fiberglass site both sell in 5 gallon buckets and have all the other supplies. Prices are pretty comparable. I used fiberglass site products in my restoration.

Baylinerchuck What do you think of what I have done so far? Any other advice? You asked for pics so you got em! I know I have to still grind where I will tab everything down to fresh glass... but any other pointers? Especially about doing this transom!!!

It's looking good, I've been following along pretty regularly. As far as advice, I can only offer up what I have done. WOG has a great layup schedule. I did a few more layers since I had to get to at least 2" thick. I used BCX exterior plywood and PL construction adhesive to bond the plywood to plywood. I used 1.5oz CSM on both sides of this wood assembly. I made clamps and glued the assembly to the transom with fiberglass reinforced thickened resin. I always add 1/4" chop to my PB to avoid cracks from shrinkage. Once that was done, covered the entire transom in 1708, which overlaps the transom by 4" on the first layer, and 8" on the second layer. It's best to do the other layups when the first layer is still tacky, just after it kicks.

This is good stuff! I haven't had free time to shop for my cloth and resin. I'll most likely be doing that this week. Thi's has been a fun project. I just wish I could spend more time on it!
