Re: Funny "TLC needed" boat ads on Craigslist.

i bought a 15' 1981 tri hull open bow with a 75 hp chrysler recently. I knew nothing about boats when I bought this thing. According to the owner it ran great, mind you I paid 300 dollars for boat motor and trailer. I wen tot his house the motor fired up pretty quick so I was interested. Come to find out 1 head gasket blown 2 carbs were way way way out of adjustment, the bottom throttle plate was not set right so they wayyyyy over compensated with the fuel on the top two carbs to keep it running. Call me stupid but Im baffled as to why the head gasket was blown. 3. the thermostat was bad. 4, the overheat buzzer did not work. as for that i bet it actually died because the buzzer isnt meant to always be on you know. 5, voltage regulator was blown and I almost blew up a battery. 6, impellewr fan was bad. 7, throttle advance was not set right.
What this all adds up to is its a mearacle this motor isnt in the scrap yard. The only thing that saved it was the guy was so tired of messing with it he bought a new boat and let i sit. This is what happens when someone who is not mechanically inclined tries to fix a boat motor. When it was all said and done I put about 300 into the motor and now it runs better than my 2007 truck.

Now with everything I just said when I bought it "It runs like it did when I bought it, therres nothing wrong with it"
He didnt know what to say when I called him back after I was done fixing it and told him everything that was wrong. This guy had no clue

I just bought my DIS-LOYAL, EVER CHEATING, BIG JACKASS boyfriend a boat....

Love how she says she is smart that way. And how she is selling all the things she bought for him.. Obviously not as smart as she thinks she is having bought "all the things" for him... Sounds more like dumb that way.....

Wow, only $300! And you can lay down and probably get wet! Oh wait, theres also no seats, which probably means no support! What a great deal...

12ft wooden "john" boat - $300 (Soo, Sault, SSM)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
no seats
oar locks and oars included
can have a motor put on it
perfect duck hunting boat so you can lay down when waiting without navigating around built in seats
hasn't been in the water in awhile so seams should be checked before using it.
No trailer included but fits perfectly into the back of a full size pickup.
When responding by email put JOHN BOAT as subject or you will be ignored
300 o.b.o.
Thank You

Awfully similar photos at the bottom of this page:

Holy crap, I read through that entire posting about the "restoration" of that piece of crap and all I can say is that the kid just does not listen, Everyone was telling him how to do things correctly and all he kept saying was I am going to put the deck down & sell it. That thing will fold like a taco shell the first wave that it hits.
I like how he found rotten wood while drilling test holes in the transom so he was just going to check some more to try & find good wood so somehow the transom was OK. :(

The rose is the chain part that attaches to the anchor to weight it down and then it connects to the actual rope that goes to the boat. You can see the chain in the pics.
