I'd say it's worth about $60 or so in scrap weight, maybe less if the deduct for built in foam, painted aluminum, and any wood in the transom. Maybe about 200 lbs tops, probably closer to 150 lbs. Then minus the gas to haul it to the scrap yard. The last price I got on aluminum was $.36 per lb.

(At that price, it's hardly worth the effort these days.
They want you to sign your life away to prove it's not stolen scrap, plus a photo ID, then they're talking about delayed payment now. On top of all that, you risk your tires going into those places with all the debris strewn all around. Not to mention the mud holes and slop all over the place.
Cut a tire at the salvage yard and any money you made there is right out the window.)

Re: Funny "TLC needed" boat ads on Craigslist.

I had bought a cheap jon boat once that had a cutout over the starboard side bench seat and a plank with a pulley and winch attached to it. The former owner was using it to haul in crab or eel pots. They took a saw and cut down to the seat. I looked all over trying to find that round side railing or a donor boat to take a section from. I ended up finding a better boat for a few hundred bucks and just sold the one with the winch and cutout on CL. To my surprise it sold for $350 the next morning. I gave only $200 for the boat, motor, and trailer. I kept the bow mount trolling motor, 20HP Merc, and the two year old trailer, which just so happened to be perfect for the boat I had bought instead.

I'm not sure if I'd even bother with something like that unless it was free. Then at least I can't loose anything in it.
I hate to think how it got that way too, I'd be wondering what other damage is there that I can't see.

Manually tilting up a 150hp 'rude doesn't sounds like fun to me:rolleyes:

Excellent grammar though!

Reminds me of one I went to look at last fall, the boat had a 175 on it with the power tilt unit seized up and laying in the splashwell. The motor had no tilt mechanism or latch at all installed. There was a 4x4 with an eye bolt and rope attached to the rear tie down eye which substituted for the tilt latch.
His main selling point was based on how you could neglect to tilt that motor and it would drag up the ramp and do no damage since it was not locked down!. The skeg showed the wear of several years of this type of use too.

It was an ad in the local free paper listing it as a super nice fishing boat, ready to go, $1000.

This one isn't quite as bad as some of the others here but I thought that $400 for a basically a bare hull was a bit high, no motor, no seats, no trailer for a 45 year old hull?

14' MFG fiberglass boat - $400 (Vineland, 08360)

For Sale, 1963 MFG Niagara V hull fiberglass boat. $400 firm.
Title in hand, boat was last used in 2008. It's rated at 50hp max but I'd suppose a 25 hp or so would move it along quite nicely.
The boat is light, uses a long shaft motor and best of all, being an early MFG hull, there's no wood decks or stringers to worry about.
The hull on this is in great shape, no patches, no paint, all original. It was bottom painted when I got it, but most of that has washed away now and it doesn't appear to have been sanded either. Boat had a new helm and steering cable in 2008 and was freshwater run after that. These are very unique hulls modeled after the vintage Lyman wood boats of the 50's. Good ones like this are few and far between. I had planned to use this myself but found a slightly larger MFG just after buying this one.
No motor, no trailer. (Trailer under boat now is borrowed).
I have an old trailer that I'll sell for $100 cash if you need something to get it home with.

This looks like the one I sold last year, if it is, it's in nice shape, but could stand a transom job. It had a Merc 40 on it when I got it, I kept the motor, sold the hull when I bought my Super Sport. It's a super solid hull, it was just too small for me too. I sold it in favor of a 16' boat, which I sold just recently in favor of completely redoing another boat.
It was a cool boat, super quick on plane and very light. I don't think $400 is at all out of line for that, (I sold it for a lot more). The transom job won't be too big a deal on that, unbolt the splashwell and go to work. I'm half temped to go look and see if it can be had cheaper. I'm sure that will sell for a lot more in the spring.

Being a Jets fan, I'm glad to see Woody Johnson is tryingto make a profit some other way than these damn PSL's for season ticket holders! I don't know if outboard boat engines would have been my first choice, but at least he's trying! :D

Ha, I was trying to figure out where the engine was in that pic, then I realized it was sprawled all out in that container.

Should not take more than a couple hours to rebuild. I am sure everything is labeled, and will go back together! (just a small hint of sarcasm)

This not a TLC boat but some joker looking for a 1990 or newer 38 footer for trade for the crap he already owns. Hey LOSER, sell your crap and look to give somebody cash for the boat you think you need more then furnishings in your home. What I like best is that he will "TARDE." Kind of sums up the whole add now, doesn't it?

Maybe not so bad....the trailer is prob worth that much....throw em a case of beer and its prob yours!:D
That's how I got my project boat, the guy got it to fix it up and then had to have heart surgery and his wife's transmission went out in the same week. I paid $200 for a trailer in fairly good shape with a run down boat on top for free just begging to be salvaged.

I'd like to think that he meant hooked but I'm afraid that it should have started with an F.
