I've seen that ad before, and even then, until you mentioned it ^^^ I didn't catch the reverse reg#'s.........

In my thirty plus years of working boating law enforcement I would find lettering like this every couple of years. Even better is the occasional confused individual who buys the letters and puts their complete HIN on in place of the state reg numbers.

Edit: After looking closer this picture appears to be a case of the "flipped negative" as it was called in the film camera days. However I have seen it done and it looks even stranger such as JC 6528 AP

Your reading wrong. It should read AP 8256 CJ. Here it is flipped over.

Means - I paid $2000 when it ran good, engine is busted now, but I still want $2K for a my broken boat :facepalm:
