21' DIXIE BLUE FIN FOR VAN (Hammonton Area)

Reply to: sale-fahve-1581185892@craigslist.org

1989 21 foot Dixie Blue Fin. Completely rebuilt Mercruiser inboard. (Rebuilt at Mullica River Yaght Basin) Many, many extras...like GPS, Fish Finder, lots of maps, charts, ladders, head, flares, live well, outriggers...everything a boat should have. The boat is in GREAT shape. The trailor needs work, but is road worthy.

I will TRADE the boat for the right van. Preferably a Ford Window Van that's ready to run and doesn't need work.

I wish I could find the one I Was thinking of.... It was an ebay ad, so it wouldnt really go with this thread, but it was a 1990 Bayliner Capri, same as mine.

The guy wanted $13,000 for it. Im dead serious. The boat was in great condition, sure. But $13k for a 20 year old boat is just NUTS.

Here is the boat I took that sears motor off of. I gave this guy the boat, the hull had been cut in 4 places by a skill saw (someone was trying to cut out the floor, however it was not me), the floor was rotted, the transom was rotted, had half of dozen patches on the hull in other places. this boat was a mess. he now has it for sale for $120. I tried selling it for $50 before i gave it away. there is a reason it was free.

Oh wow, what a great price for a great boat!
What a great hull and trailer for only 1000 dollars! Even better deal if those great, rotten, exploded fenders comes with it??

"great" seems to be a buzz word around here. I've seen the most rusted out, dilapidated POS's described as "great". If it runs at all, it runs "great". If the hull floats, its in "great" shape.

Re: Funny "TLC needed" boat ads on Craigslist.

I went to check out a 77 Ebco a guy had listed on the Kansas City site. Here is his ad.

http://kansascity.craigslist.org/boa/1579680895.html

We are moving in 2 weeks and need to sell our boat fast! It is in good condition, solid body, and lots of work already done. It will need about $300 worth of work done to it to be perfect. It comes with trailor and has new stereo and marine speakers. We are having issues uploading the pics, but can text you pics if you are interested. At this point we will take best offer due to the time frame of which we are needing to get rid of it. We will be happy to answer any questions about the work we have done or that needs done.
Thanks!

A nice guy but when I pulled the dipstick it was milkshake city. He said the $300 repair was for a flapper valve. I asked if he had winterized it and he said he thought the garage was safe enough for it to keep it from freezing. The seats were rough and it was missing part of the engine cover. I offered him $200 at first but went up to $300. They opted to try and get a better offer. I think the guy knew the motor was bad but hoped he could find a sucker.

This has been listed for quite some time, I guess this guy hasn't been to Walmart lately, you can buy the same tank for $16.99 brand new, and a hose for $9.99. Not to mention that both this guys tank and fuel line look to have seen better days.

That's a pretty cool looking tunnel hull, but not for that kind of money. I could picture that with a jetdrive outboard buzzing along in some real skinny water. Looks like a great boat for fishing small rivers and creeks in. I'd be tempted if it were near me, or at least I'd try to bargain it for a decent price.

bargain as in 5 dollars, maybe. 900 dollars for a disgusting hull full of stagnant water and rotten rubber and a badly rusted trailer, no fool would be interested. It's just a common livingston, tens of thousands are out there and in much better shape.

This is a Phenomenal Value. Engines of this caliber would sell for thousands of dollars normally.

There is a bit of rust, but, it worked well when it came off the boat.

Located in Bloomington for pick up and inspection. $1150. Or Best Reasonable Offer.

We Accept Pay-Pal or Cash Only. Pickup or Shipping of Item is Responsibility of Buyer. Call us with Questions
Yeah, for a motor of questionable integrity....I wonder what he considers a reasonable offer :D

Re: Funny "TLC needed" boat ads on Craigslist.

This isn't boat related, but it's pretty funny, mostly because it's MY add. First, let me say that I don't use Craigslist much (this is the second time), and I hate selling stuff. I'm not into trying to convince someone that what I'm selling is worth what I'm asking. I'm also not into asking 25% more than I want just for negotiating room. I know that it's a guy thing to do, but when I'm selling something I don't want to do it. So here's my add;

http://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/1582923333.html

Every bit of it is true. Truck runs great and the only reason I'm selling it is because I don't have room (need room for the boat when it comes out of storage)! Posted the add yesterday and immediately started getting quite a few replies. Several of them don't even ask about the truck. It's either I only have $......, will you take that, will you trade for my LCD, and one guy wanted to know if I would hold it until March (while he saved the money). Get a couple of serious lookers. One guy wants to come out this morning. I work 3rd shift, but agreed to stay up. He shows up (after about an hours drive), looks it over pretty well, tests drives it. He says it's what he's been looking for and wants to know if I'll take $1300. I told him that I was firm on $1500. It even has a full tank of gas, about $65.00, a new battery, and a hitch that I forgot to mention in the ad. He gets back in his car, where his wife is waiting, to try to talk the boss into the deal. Knocks on the door about 15 mins. later and says he'll take it! Full price!:D I give him the title, collect the money, walk out and thank him! He gets in the truck to leave, it won't start!:( This truck failed to start once in the entire time I've owned it. It needed a battery and I replaced it, but this is the worst ever. Worst of all his wife is in the car watching. I told him that I would completely understand if he wanted to back out. Also, told him that I think it's just flooded. It'll start in a few minutes. I told him that if it didn't start I would give him his money back, get it fixed, and then meet him halfway with it. He wanted the truck bad! He asked me if I thought I could get it going and I said yes. He takes his wife to McDonalds. Tells her that I have to run in town to get the title. He's not gone 5 minutes when the truck fires right up. He came back, I've got the full $1500, and he's got what he said is now his camping vehicle.

Re: Funny "TLC needed" boat ads on Craigslist.

Same thing happened when I sold my Jupiter. Never had a bit of trouble with it all season. Went to start it up in my driveway prior to meeting the prospective buyer at the boat ramp and ran the battery completely down trying to get it to start. I did the same thing as you and told the buyer I'd understand if he wasn't interested. He ended up coming up to my house instead and by then I'd swapped batteries and it immediately started. It was real cold that morning and I'd probably never tried to run it when it was that cold and I think I flooded the heck out it. We then went for a successful test run and he ended up buying for full price.

Never seen one here on the east coast, that would make a great river and back bay boat here.
Hang a jetdrive outboard and that would go just about anywhere.

Yes, is a sailboat, a Catalina 22. But I lost the keel, so I cannot sail it without it.

So I was using it as a fishing boat, since is big, has a comfortable interior, easy to handle .

It has a trailer that is road worthy, but the trailer is not registered.

I have the title for the boat.

I was using it with a 6 HP long shaft and with it I was moving it pretty fast on the lake.Engine is not included.

But I guees you can put a bigger engine , even hook it up to the transom.

It needs some minor repair, since the rail on the side got detached. Also a good cleaning and TLC.

Interior is very clean, cushions are in pretty shape. Hull is solid, no soft spots, only a place on top that needs a minor repair.

I was using it as is for the last year, but now I am moving.

I will accept trades, let me know what you got.

Thanks for looking.

Well the ad does claim "no leaks".
I bet a dollar it is something that he found dumped along the side of some dirt road while deer hunting.

Re: Funny "TLC needed" boat ads on Craigslist.

Ok so before i decided to restore my boat i had it listed on CL & i was asking $650. Whats the opinions on that? I have $4000 in the boat as of right now before i start the 2nd restore. Heres the add & pics i posted & feel free to comment plz.

18FT GLASTRON w/ 115 MARINER
Forsale is a 18ft glastron bowrider that needs some work. The interior was redone a little with the floor replaced over a year ago but the boat has sat outside ever since so its in fair condition. It is sitting on a 2003 tennessee trailer thats in almost new condition. It has a 91 mariner 115 long shaft mounted on it but the motor was never hooked up because the control box has been taken apart so it was never ran by me but i was told it has good compression so its sold as is.
