And yet another perfect example of a seller expecting that someone should pay him to haul away his trash.

When will these morons ever learn? Oh, wait...maybe they do this because there are equally moronic people who will buy garbage.

I don't understand how there are so many people trying to sell boats with no title. What's the problem there? It isn't hard to get a title if you lost it. Repos even have titles.

I agree!
My latest boat didnt have a title when I bought it. The title holder sold it to the gentleman I acquired it from in 1989 and only signed the registration over to him. Thankfully Michigan Secretary of State has a simple process for finding the title holder. Took me 5 weeks to get the title and switch it to an Ohio title.
Here in Ohio its a felony to posses a boat over 14' or an outboard over 10 hp without a title. ORC 1547-1548

I'll play....

This guy has had this same ad going for a year now. I went and took a look and found rotten stringers and the engine was frozen solid. Except someone had made it turn with a long bar.... Basically junk. Tarp looked ok! lol

I was kind of worried the last time I bought a boat. Actually the boat is old enough that here in PA it doesn't require a title so the Bill of Sale was good there and I registered it in my name with no problems.

But the trailer does require a title. It was a two hour drive to the seller's house and we couldn't find a notary in the evening when I was there. We agreed that he would have it notarized the next day and mail it to me; I pestered him for a few days before he got around to getting it done and I have the title in my name now. Since the trailer is old and not worth a whole lot I figured avoiding the drive was worth the risk but it could easily have gone the other way and ended up as an off road firewood hauler. :blue:

I suspect that's how many titles get lost; everyone agrees to do the paperwork "later". As you say, even a lost title is easy for the title holder to replace if they can be convinced to just do it. It's the buyer's responsibility.

Tom, What this the Lone Star? I would have gone through "Hell or High Water" for a vessel such as that.

That was a different boat/trailer ('89 Crestliner).

The Lone Star was grandfathered in with no title, but it and the Tee Nee trailer it's on were complicated because I bought them from a guy who bought them from the widow of the owner without transferring the title to himself. He had to get some papers signed by the widow and the notary was filling out papers for about 20 minutes, but in the end the state sent me the registration and trailer title.

One time I got a title to a boat without getting anything notarized. I just had a Bill of Sale from the widow of the owner; I filled out the required paperwork myself and sent it in, state issued me a new title and registration for a "homebuilt" boat. It was kind of silly to get the title on an older boat anyway, just wanted to see if it could be done.

Another "fun" and "amazing" project...I would not say that the words fun and/or amazing are words the guys doing stringer/deck/transom replacements would use?

Amazing winter project

And of course the cash goes to a worthy cause so don't even think about negotiating on the price.

It really gets under my skin when people do that. I once had a woman selling a jet ski mention she needed the money to buy food. Funny thing is she had just told me "just had it out yesterday and it runs great" sooooo you have money to go jet skiing but not to buy food. When I asked her about that she replied "how is that any of your business"

Also as is fitting with this thread, it turned out she didn't have the title. I bailed on that deal real quick.

Priorities man, priorities! I could stand to miss a meal or two to go jet skiing!

immaculate like new glastron bowrider

In pretty fair shape, but I would not use the work "immaculate" to describe it after seeing the pictures of the interior. Either it had way more than 100 hours use, or it was stored outside uncovered. " interior is mint". :D

Only funny because it features a "skitchenette" and a "shower27" while being described as a "ft sea ray 350 inboard"

Boat sleeps 4 w/ skitchenette and shower27 ft sea ray 350 inboard

That boat seems very interesting to me. I'm not in the market for something so big but for 2,800 if you got 5 years out of it and then gave it away for free it would be worth every penny. Must be something seriously wrong with it. Trailer looks good. If it's a 350 motor it's likely still an alpha drive (even though it says inboard). That's a lot of boat for that setup.

WOW. Makes you wonder if he sold the trailer with a bill of sale, now somebody goes and transfers this title into their name and the poor unsuspecting guy that bought the actual trailer gets shafted. What a mess.

Ya know there's just something wrong about seeing a high water mark on a transom that's really high.
