This guy is at least offering the right price. If I needed an OMC outdrive or a trailer it would be worth the salvage fee to get rid of the rest of that mess. Selling the outdrive and trailer would probably turn a profit.

EDIT: Never mind, just saw that the trailer is not included.

Looks like an easy switch~~ might be in a salvage yard now.

Looks like a storage yard.

Not sure that it obviously has issues. What are the obvious issues?

Look at the windshield. Doesn't close correctly. Sure sign it's got some ugly hiding

The address that it's at is a cheap car dealer

$3500 with no signs that it still runs... but you DO get several years of beautiful built up fall foliage. i don't understand why people can't take literally 5-10 minutes to at least clean the leaves out of the boat... unless they're hiding a giant hole.

also, why not just say that it no longer runs? obviously if it did, you would be stating so in the ad... do potential buyers actually show up to look at these kind of listings and not try and start it? or is the buyer hoping that someone will still be interested at his asking price when they realize it doesn't start? i don't get it.

sorry, just a bit angry after looking at boats late this summer and coming across tons of similar garbage. any ad that says "needs a little TLC" or "ran great last time it was out" is such a huge red flag... or a picture from 250 yards away that has a date stamp from 1997... or a "great deal" with no price listed.

Ummmm, you bring your own trailer, perhaps?
The one you still own after the last 'just a little TLC to be water ready' boat you bought & drug home, much to the Admiral's displeasure, that turned out to be MUCH more rotten then the seller indicated.........

Funny enough I almost bought a glasser donor boat this weekend, I just couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger. $200 for a boat motor and trailer. I figured for that little price there had to be something I could salvage off it, seller claimed it needed interior work as everything had been stripped. Well I got there to find that the poor old merc was done I couldn't even get 30 pounds of compression out of any cylinder. The little leak the seller claimed that the lower unit had, he explained to me that it wasn't a leak the water pump wasn't pumping solid 6 years ago and he continued to run it. The hull was so rotten it probably weighed 2000 lbs stripped with all of the dead leaves and standing water. It did however have a really nice stainless steel gas tank I was going to offer him money for but I picked it up and it had 6 year old gas in it. I thought well the trailer is kind of cool until I noticed he couldn't be bothered to air up the tires so I could tow it home. Such is the life cycle of a Glasser someone loves it for a while then someone lets it rot to the ground.

So let me see if I follow. Someone is (allegedly) trying to sell an item from a junk yard without ever actually taking possession?

Nope.. I see it all the time. bought it at a copart auction (you guys have heard of copart right?? it's a salvage auction with some donated boats/cars tossed in) and tossed on CL for profit, just pick it up, drag it home. List on CL. Heck, even I am guilty of it.

I've bought boats from copart for 35 bucks.. Some of them where great boats.

I am NOT saying they don't own the boat. I have no clue. if there was a visible item number a guy could dig in to it. I AM saying the seller was to lazy to take photos of the boat and just used ones from the auction listing.

That is one sweet vessel. Unfortunately, it isn't quite a barn find. What makes people leave a boat out in the elements for years before finally deciding to sell it? And why would anyone say, "no returns" on Craigslist? He's insane at $3500. I'd have a problem at $350 but at least it isn't entirely out of reason.

A tarp "OVER" it. I'd love to see how that donation goes, I'm sure the Goodwill will run right over to pick her up. Bonus points for the really descriptive title he came up with.

Maybe it's been tarped for 15 years, but the tarp died about 13 years ago.

I didn't like the "ran last year" type of statements but on second thought, they are just saying there aren't any problems known to them but they aren't saying any more. We all know they are "as is" and for the ones that make it on this list, they aren't the "well running motor as of now" sale. IOW it's not much information but it's something. And while "ran well 4 years ago" isn't saying anything, there is some value in "ran well last fall" or whatever.

This TLC Lund may be worth it. Poor neglected thing needs rescued from sitting uncovered in the snow another year.

That Tyee is what I used to have, mine was a bit newer, but I would be jump all over that one. Lunds do hold their value well, my guess is just a new floor, maybe stringer and transom, but in the end it will get a better resale price than most boats. I really regret selling mine. The 115 Johnson should be just fine pushing it around too.

New floor, stringer, and transom sounds like a lot of work to me. Marine grade wood isn't all that cheap either. $1800 plus materials and time ends up being quite an investment for a boat that old. I'm sure the seats aren't in good shape either. That kind of work is definitely outside my skill set/dedication. Would you really consider that boat a good value? I'm going to sell an 89 Four Winns I/O this spring and I'll be happy to get half that. The floor is solid, but the wood in the seat cushions is shot and so is the wood on lid over the motor. If I left it uncovered in our Michigan weather for a few years there would be nothing left of it.
