Here's a good one, check out the transom conversion.
This thing has been listed for over a year, guess what, no takers.
Maybe it wouldn't have been as bad if they didn't chop up the hull like that and used a transom bracket instead and some real reinforcement. The trailer has no papers either so it too has issues to deal with.

Re: Funny "TLC needed" boat ads on Craigslist.

Just saw one posted Saturday in the Chicago boat CL.

Poster, Get a Life, was going off about flaggers, got quite nasty yet they had the nerve to post it 6 times in a row. Guess they needed a little TLC.

I don't understand at all. I follow the CL boating ads throughout Illinios and Wisconson and the worst one Is Chicago's. I seen everything from furniture and home decor to sporting goods and autos posted there to the I'll trade my whatever for your boat. I;ve even seen Realestate posted for sale in the boats section just because it was on the water. Then there are the ones that post the same ad every day, day after day.

Chicago's boat list is always a big one, just today I believe there were 6 or 7 pages of listings. Even throughout this past winter there has always been 2 or 3 pages even during the week!

Also on Saturday in the Milwaukee boat list the was a guy going off on the price of a 40 year old Mercury. I had to think about it and say the sell can ask whatever price they want. Doesn't mean you have to buy it or mean that they will even sell it. Another reader that just needs some TLC!

I especially like when they email a legit ad and complain about the price, I had a guy write me a two page email response to a boat I had listed for $1200, he went on about what junk it was and that I'd be better off just scrapping it. In the end he asked if I'd let him scrap it, to save me the trouble of dealing with all the #$$&@(#$ on CL.
I had to reply and tell him I was actually thinking of raising the price to cover my time reading bs emails such as his. Three days later 'someone else' using the same email address emailed, came looked at the boat and bought it. Go figure.

That's when you take the opportunity to backhandedly rough the guy up verbally when he comes to visit.

While talking with him about about the condition of the boat, you casually say something along the lines of;
"You know some @*****e sent me an e-mail telling me this boat is garbage, and should be scrapped. What a jack@**, totally wasting my time that I could have spent reading e-mails from legitimate buyers like you. I don't know how that guy sleeps at night, but as you can see by the condition of the boat in front of you, he was totally talking out of his @**"

Or something like that.... :D;)

I present to you, a "professionally reinforced" transom. Beautiful job!:facepalm:

It looks like they either ripped out the splash well or part of the transom, or both.

ROBALO, 22', w/200hp Ocean Runner

From the ad "Free delivery into the Port of Baltimore for Export ( we also will handle the Export Paperwork for free)."

Guess they're hoping to never hear from the buyer when the "running, 1996, 200 HP Johnson Ocean Runner" falls in the ocean along with the "Professionally Reinforced Transome ( a beautiful Job ! )". Get this as far away as we can with any added perks. What tools!

If they didn't point out the "Professionally Reinforced Transome ( a beautiful Job ! )" most wouldn't really notice that the aluminum plate shouldn't be there. On the face of the ad, it looks like a whole lot of boat & motor for less then $3400..... It doesn't 'look' like just this side of derelict based on the pix. Many won't know what to look for warning signs. Unfortunate...

Hopefully the buyer isn't too far off shore when the transom lets go....
Bummer......... Totally not cool, and agreed PITA tool of a seller :grumpy: :blue:

When I read the price, I almost shat myself! I think it's a simple case of two too many zeros.

Re: Funny "TLC needed" boat ads on Craigslist.

Just puts it right there in his ad:
'As mentioned, the trailer was part of a payment for a clean up project so the boat is filled with random debris from around the property that needs to be taken with the boat but at a price as low as this it is well worth it.'

Wow, I guess at least their honest  Should read: please pay me to haul off the junk I've already been paid to dispose of........

Worth it? How since: 'I'm not sure of the name and model of the boat but will list it with pics later tonight after I go by where it is'

Don't guess he's driven by in the last 8 or 9days......
