They are really primarily only found in countries that follow the British royal crown... Piloting on the wrong side of the waterway & all

I had one the other day. "motor runs great! needs nothing ready for the water!" meanwhile there is a picture of the motor with a basketball sized puddle of oil underneath! I am sure it has "been like that for years"

I have a 16 ft boat with tilt trailer and 135hp Johnson. Boat needs restored. Needs everything. Steering an shifter cables bad. Motor did work years ago. Don`t start, Starter bad. No extras! I have title for boat. Will float. If you have a pond you can put it on there for fishing or let the kids play with it. May take trade. Selling as is! Car stuff, motors, 4 wheelers Firebird parts, What ya got?

this is where those of us that are looking for sweet deals make our killing. Boat owners who have no clue how to fix anything..... if their car ran out of gas in the driveway they would have a tow truck come get it and take it to the shop..... they wont lift a finger to try and figure anything out.. then you get that type of owner with a desperate situation..ie moving, wife irate, needs the room ect...you get the absolute best deals!!!

that 135 is a nice motor.....it is totally possible that some one charge the battery or clean a terminal and the motor fires up!!

And that's how I got a nice spare '98 115hp Johnson outboard. I saw it in the classifieds in the local paper and figured I could get some parts for my Sylvan if it ever broke down. The guy said he forgot to winterize it and forgot to put oil in the gas a few times. (It's oil injected) It wouldn't start so he thought it was seized.(I'm guessing the battery was dead?) He said when it did run, it ran poorly and smoked alot!!! I gave him $500. I was looking for the boat but he said he sold it already. I wanted to ask sooo many questions but my greed took over and said "Shut up, give him the money and leave."
There was nothing wrong with the motor. I would've felt bad but his house was gigantic. I have been waiting patiently for something to go wrong with his Sea Ray.

I never feel bad making a score. When something turns out to not be a great deal, does the guy that sold it feel bad?

I don't know much about OB's but that has to be the smallest 135hp, ever. It's cowl looks smaller then the mid 60's 50hp Merc 500 I've got at home, and definitely smaller then the '61 Rude 75hp StarFlite III's cowl..... Are newer 100hp+ motors really that much smaller?

I think its an optical illusion of that bad pic. I stared at it a bit and it looks to be roughly the same size as my 72 115. Wouldn't be surprised if uses the same cover.

one reason I ended up being an omc guy....for every HP rating i was interested in , the mercs seems 50% larger than the OMCs...and since i was getting a motor for a duck boat..I wanted the lightest motor possible for the HP....... a 50 hp Merc IS about as big as a 88 special!!!

Exactly. Around here, one could pay his asking price, junk the hull, get your money back (or almost) selling the trailer, and have a free motor that stands a decent chance of only needing minimal work to get back into running order.
