Actually, for those of us who have to drive long distances to fish as many of us in the western states do, that might just be a bargain. MY wife and I went to Elephant Butte lake here in Southern New Mexico one day last week and caught three Crappie totaling probably three to four ponds in weight.

We paid for: Gas for round trip of about a hundred sixty miles at $3.58. per gallon. A couple gallons of gas for the boat, again $3.58. per gallon. Food, drinks and snacks. Five dollar state park fee. Wear and tear on pickup, boat and trailer.

Naturally, I have not, and do not intend to, total up the cost per ounce of those three fish. It is sometimes better to not know all the facts.

Now, that trip was primarily to check out my depth finder that I've been having trouble with and the number of fish caught far fewer and smaller than what we usually catch, but still, that makes for some pretty expensive eating.

BTW, we usually fish for either white or black bass but crappie seemed to be the only thing hitting at all that day (and even then bites were few and far between) so we became crappie fishermen for a day.

Mel...I've certainly had my share of days where breaking down the cost per ounce would've brought me to tears. I get more joy out of the fishing trip than I do eating them anyhow. So when I factor in the "priceless" part, it's worth every expense. What struck me as humorous was that it sounded like he was selling 3 live fish...maybe not. Around here though, there's a creek/river/fishable body of water within 5 or 10 miles of you no matter where you are, so whether it was catching fish to eat or to stock my pond, I wouldn't be spending $5 each.

I also assumed he is selling them live. And I thought it funny too.

Of course the enjoyment of any fishing trip is almost always worth more than whatever it costs. As we were driving home, my wife and I were both discussing the fact that we had a really great day in spite of the three crappie catch. OTOH we were one of the few who caught anything that day as far as we could tell. Just one of those days when nuthin was stirrin'.

This one is from eBay rather than CL but IMO this is a prime example of the best in Redneck ingenuity and ability. The real humor, of course doesn't come through without the pictures and I can't figure any way to post them here. If anyone else knows how please do post them. Here's the URL:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Redn...Other_Boats&hash=item4cffa1a4fa#ht_500wt_1079

From the eBay ad:
Redneck Rocket Fishing Boat Aluminum 30 Johnson Runs NR
"I put this boat together some years ago out of some junk I had around. It has been a lot of fun, but I don't have time to use it anymore. Mid 50's 30 horse Johnson electric start. Don't let the looks of the old motor fool you, it starts and runs nearly as good as it did new. I have had this motor for 6-8 years, and have run it every year 3-4 hours. It has never let me down. The boat is a 14 foot V-bottom. I think it is a Duracraft. It is as watertight as a brand new one, absolutely no leaks. The trailer is included. It is a factory made tilt trailer, and is in decent shape. This is a fun little boat for not much money. Local pick up only. I require payment in one week."

Just curious why you posted this one, seems pretty nice and might book at 12,500 or so, more if as exceptional as the ad states. May even get a warranty of some kind from the dealer.

a few years ago this guy had to drop his price to $9,500 to sell his.

its a fast boat thats for sure.....but seems the dealer is wanting TOP dollar.....

Dude is selling a $500 boat for $2500. Now he mentions a 4 stroke Honda motor, which may contribute quite a bit to the value (if it's a newer one) however he has no pictures or further description of said motor. Doofus.

Good shape no motor or trailer

I wonder if that are blood stains on the deck??? Probably perspective buyers were fighting for it so such low price.

it amazes me how many people think they can retire when they sell their Boston Whalers......

the most over inflated priced boat i ahve ever seen.... and they will pound you in rough seas!!

Power Quest's are very well built boats and one that is in that nice of shape will get the $$ being asked IMO. I really havent seen another brand built better than them in my years. The attention to detail on them is what caught my eye and interest. Really depends on what was done to it in private hands since 1997. These boats really do hold their value well, but again this is just my .02
