Nicest looking blue tarp I've seen on CL in a while, be careful, I may try to outbid you by $1 or less. I have my ebay sniping mouse hooked up tonight! Mo-tard, can't even uncover the boat long enough to take a photo or 2 this winter????

My wallet is winterized, sorry no offer...... Oh wait, I'll offer $19.95, about the value of a used big blue tarp & some bungee cords

Carp, I've actually been there! Back in the mid 80's, back then it was known as "Way Cool, CA"

Actually, I've been out through Cool driving from Auburn through Placerville & onto Lake Tahoe, nice drive. Wish I'd had my motorcycle then. Rabbit Ear Pass down into S. Lake Tahoe, what a great drive. Even in a snow storm. Anyone close enough to ski in S. Lake Tahoe, I can't say enough good stuff about Kirkwood.

I may be wrong, but when I saw that ad earlier today, I thought it was glass, not tin. Somewhere I know I saw Ez recommend to stay away from the Ford I/O motors, been out of marine for a while. But if you need it as parts for your motor, or had an I/O setup that would work, maybe go for it if you can stomach the 25' resto. Not me, not yet anyway.

"Jeremiah sale trade bang bang man stuff"

I'm going to use that in conversation today.

Had to chuckle at this. Reminds me of an old Steve Martin comedy routine where he recommends talking "wrong" to your kids. They grow up and asking the teacher if they could go to the bathroom, say" can I mumbo dogface to the banana patch?"
I "think" the dude saying that might really be saying "will you have pity on me, and buy this p.o.s.???"

I wonder if this guy is trying to convey some hidden message by capitalizing certain words?

I have afiberglass boat on good trailer for sale
Boat not good but have good TITLE !! And trailer has tirle

Motor is separate its TITLED as well 65 merc complete
As far as I can tell

Im into cars got from craigslist thought id try a dabble at boats just

Not my thing

Jeremiah sale trade bang bang man stuff

LETS MAKE DEAL SO WERE BOYH HAPPY

OK, for those who didn't get it the first time around, here is what this CL ad would probably sound like if it were translated into plain english:

"I have a boat that is a heap of junk. However, the TITLE is good. If you have a good boat with no title, you can buy mine, put the HIN on your boat and register it using the TITLE you just bought from me. Then you haul the boat you just bought from me to the landfill." This will give you a good boat with a valid TITLE.

"The trailer and the title for it are both good. You can use the trailer as is or do the same thing with it."

"Ditto on the Motor."

All this title switching is clearly illegal, would probably carry a substantial penalty if you were to get caught and is not to be recommended. However, there's no denying that it does happen occasionally.

The older CJ 5 Jeeps had a VIN plate that was simply riveted to the firewall. Easy to remove and install on another Jeep. I had a junker Jeep with a good title advertised for sale online. A guy contacted me and offered me more money than I was asking if I would remove the VIN plate and mail it to him in another state along with the signed title. I told him to come to my house, I would sign the title over to him, he could remove the Jeep from my property and do whatever he wished with it. Otherwise, no deal. I never heard from him again.

"Im into cars got from craigslist thought id try a dabble at boats just Not my thing" means he buys and sells cars from CL. He tried it with boats but that's not for him.

Jeremiah is the seller's name.

"sale trade bang bang man stuff" means he will sell the items or trade for firearms (and maybe other sporting items or equipment?). In some places, just the mention of firearms will get you flagged off CL immediately, or so I've been told. Therefore you use euphemisms such as "things that go bang", "boom stick", bang bang, etc.

"LETS MAKE DEAL SO WERE BOYH HAPPY" (sic) Means he is willing and ready to negotiate.

BTW, the seller in this case is not doing anything illegal. He's simply giving prospective buyers the hint. They can take it from there and act on it or not. If they wish to break the law, it's none of his concern.

14 foot fiber glass stump knocker for sale. The boat needs a new transome, but it does not leak a drop. I used to take this thing out all the time until a few weeks ago when the transome broke off. Title in hand, and the boat is registered to 2013.I will also include a bimini top that is in pretty good shape. The lights on the trailer do not work and the trolling motor is not included. $150 firm, do not come with any lower offers. call or text ryan @...

They're just saying you're buying the motor and trailer and they'll throw in the boat for free see it all the time.
LOL, well it would make more sense to me to say if you buy the boat I will throw in the motor and trailer for free.

sstumpf,

In the boating world, getting rid of a hull is difficult by way of the material and the bulky size and local restrictions on landfill or junk yards. Outboard motors and Trailers are easier to scrap or part out.

What the ad owner is really saying is I have to get rid of this hull and that is expensive. By insisting on the buyer taking the hull also it becomes someone else's problem.

Re: Funny "TLC needed" boat ads on Craigslist.

I am new to the forums folks and I have already had a couple of laughs and a smile on my face with this thread. Thanks! One of my favorites from any ad (boats, cars, trucks, etc.) is when they say "very rare" or "vintage". Before I see the price I know they are asking too much. Old does NOT necessarily mean vintage. ;)
