OMG. What a pile of flippin' carp!!! I know it won't last long, but that thing deserves a picture:

Can I put my 35 hp Johnson on that?

Re: Funny "TLC needed" boat ads on Craigslist.

Owning a '57 Feather Craft barrel back that has seen many years of use, I don't go anywhere w/out my fully operable electric bilge pump! I've noted many pics posted to the FC Forum show an electric pump installed & operable. Presume it's a fairly common to have some leaky rivits & even more serious issues. BTW, my little Rocket had a 4" keel split forward (fairly easy repair) that I understand was not at all uncommon.

I tend to look at craigslist pretty much daily looking for repairable boats I can fix and resell. Lately I've began using "CraigsList Helper" as it helps me sort through ads all around me.

Some of the ads are hillarious, some are born out of ignorance, and some well I have no idea what they are doing.

A few of my current favorites:

"The boot does have a slight tear in it and slightly takes on water. Run the belge pump from time to time and its fine. I've ran it like that for three years."

"would make someone a really nice boat with a little tlc...." Entire boat was gutted so yeah, a "little TLC" will fix it right up. NOT!

"Has a non-running 170 horsepower Johnson and comes with additional 170 horsepower Johnson(non-running) , Boat needs floor decking - easy fix, trailer in good condition and worth the price alone."

"Interior and cover needs some TLC." All seats removed along with all interior vinyl.

"Great boat but has blown engine, you can replace it with a salvage yard engine for about $500..."

"Nice boat with 2 foot hole in hull, easy fiber glass fix if your a handy person..."

And of course they all think its worth big money...

Which Feathercraft do you have? I have a late 50's Ranger III with a '62 Lark 40hp on it. Nice boat.

85 h.p. force mercury out board motor, with electric start, power trim and tilt, cables and controls. It also has a $650 Stainless Steel Prop, that will not bend when you hit the weeds, bass fishing. Motor has low hours on. First $3,429 takes it. Call Bill at (920) 323 2807

Me thinks Bill smokes a bit too much meth.

A Force 85? Barely $800... I'd take the prop and part out the engine! And they must have some pretty tough weeds in Wi!

That one warrants a "you've got an extra zero in your price" email.
