It looks really nice Jay. I know that's one heck of a workout. How do you plan to seal up the shine?

Re: Friscoboater's 1986 Glastron Carlson CVX-18 Complete restoration thread

Thanks guys! It was really hard work.

Great job on the gel repair and polishing. Do you already have someone to run the vinyl? I have a couple of connections in that industry. Shoot me a PM if you don't already have someone.

I found a guy in Lewisville that is taking care of it for me. He did some work fro Dad on his boat (Added some cushions) and he did a great job.

I really do not need this boat as much as I love it. We really want a big cruiser so I will be putting all the money I have into this on a down payment if we get one.

I used a wax to seal it. It will need to be done every three months or so.

I was referring to the vinyl CVX logo on the deck not the upholstery.

Ohhhh. Yes I took a tracing of it, and have it in a sign shop, but he is giving the run around. PM me your contact. I have a scannable image.

+1 ^^^^

Jay, I have been enjoying this restore. I have not posted to your thread too much, since I mostly look at the pictures. I did watch your video of making PB, but I'm not sure we are supposed to call it PB any more. :noidea:

Jay, what a wonderful way of presenting all of the work that has gone into this boat .your vidioes have given me a greater desire to tackle my ranger she is not as bad as what you started with ,but i still wont to do some gel work and then some polishing on what you have shown me is that a lot of the normal dings and wear can easily be taken care if it is done right thanks

Great video of gel coat repair. I think this may be the best gelcoating video available. Very much appreciated.

What kind of gun do you use? I need to buy one, and I figured I would get the exact one you used since it worked so well.
Will you use this size gun for shooting the entire deck?

How much acetone do you shot through it to clean it?

Re: Friscoboater's 1986 Glastron Carlson CVX-18 Complete restoration thread

Hi all

And great work Jay.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me what 1.5oz CSM and 1708 biax translates to in metric. I am having difficulty finding an Australian supplier that understands the imperial sizes. Also if anyone can point to a good Aus supplier of these materials?

Also what is PL glue. Is that the polyurethene sealant/adhesive (similar to this Sika product Marine | Sika Australia Pty. Ltd. )

Can I use constrauction adhesive. I need to bed in the stringers and laminate the ply for the transom.

cheers, any help appreciated
