I like it :) hope mine turns out as good. A buddy of mine plans to come and help and he has done some (not a lot) of glass work and filling blisters on his boat.

Ya know, you could attach some beveled strips of the blue or pink foam to your stringers to keep em up off the hull at the appropriate height instead of just air.

Got the stuff ordered from US Composites and should have checked shipping cost before I placed an order. They are charging 134.00 for shipping. Dang that's high

Sounds like you got off easy on the shipping. I actually save $110 dollars on the shipping because I went to the trucking company and picked my order up from them instead of home delivery. Other wise my shipping was going to cost closer to $275 dollars. And a large portion of that cost went to hazard fees... SMH!

5 boxes an average of 26.80 each weighing 25lb each, more then a buck a pound, no I don't agree.

I do hear yea and also understand. I basically made the same statement on my boating thread when I ordered my supplies as well. When shipping cost near the same amount as the product cost, something is wrong.

I did the same thing when I ordered from U.S. Comp. They are located in Florida and so am I. It was more then a $100 cheaper to have everything delivered to Dothan,AL and for me to make the hour long drive there to pick it up at a shipping company.

Yea, the shipping charges took my breath away back when I ordered stuff for my repairs . . . , not sure how much they were, but on the chemical stuff, you tend to pay more.

I've ordered other hazmat stuff (bottom paint, gelcoat, MEKP, etc) from several other companies and the main issue is using ground, cost increase is small. When looking at US Com shipping charges they appeared a bit high but figuring they would keep it in minimal boxes. Talking to them they said they had to put each hazmat item in a separate box.

Get me once shame on you, get me twice shame on me, don't plan on doing it again. Will do a lot more checking before I buy something else. Still need bottom paint

Yea, as I recall, each gallon of VE resin came in its own double-wall box of about 4 times the size of the gallon can, contents wrapped in plastic and surrounded in foam peanuts. The boxes and contents would have easily survived an air drop, let alone ground transport. It looked overkill, but I figured that they do this all the time, so they must know about the things that can go wrong.

Yea, I did something like this, because I saw an issue with leaving the under side of the stringer uncovered with something.

Exactly 3m 8609 would be a good filler no hard spots and the stringer's are intergrated into the hull structure. Its what's used in car window's strong enough it never degenerate's

Started doing some grinding today. Pulled the boat out and what a mess. Dust everywhere, good thing its outside. Using a full tyvek suit with hood and boots. Used talc on my arms and the sleeves kept coming up so skin was exposited.

Was thinking of leaving some of the old ridge in the boat. The 3/4 plywood will be sitting above the bottom, so it won't be sticking to it anyway.
Picked up a gallon of gelcoat to cover everything when done but think I might have messed up. Probably should have just used epoxy paint over the glass on the inside.

Here is all the stuff waiting to be used.

Nice to see that you can move forward with the repairs. How are the daytime temps for glassing?

Three days and making progress, but the hardest part is getting motivated to put all the grab on to get back out there and do some more grinding. Sure glad I picked up all the stuff to protect me, but its a bunch. Got the big stuff done and the glass and paint dust is everywhere, and gets into everything. Tomorrow is another day

My good friend showed up today to give me a hand in rebuilding. Made templates out of cardboard and then cut some 3/4 for the first engine cross member and a stringer. Dry fitting looks good, plan to remove and resin coat when temps come back up. Will see about making the deck pieces tomorrow.

Looks good AD. Wood is probably better than what was there originally. :thumb:

Thanks, but there was 3/4 plywood in there originally. After everything is dry fitted we plan to VE resin everything then start the glass work
