A friend of mine used it to replace his floor and raves about it. It is very expensive but super light weight and incredibly strong. Will look into it and reply.

Hello friends.
Well ii's been a while since my last post. Work commitments and and a lack of funds due contractor mot paying me $13k. I've since taken legal action to recover the funds through our local building licensing agency called QBCC. They have a streamlined process for nonpayment of invoices with outcomes within a month or so and very low cost. If they decide in my favor, then even the cost to recover the money can be put onto the contractor who didn't pay me......woohoo!
In the meantime we have a cyclone ( hurricane) just north of me as we speak and we're not working in the torrential rain anyway.

So don't give up on me just yet. I want to see this thru and get this baby back to the reef asap.

May your lines be tight, the seas be fare and the wind at your back!

Greetings from Australia

Pam doesn't look very pretty. She is a Cat 4 now and quickly moving to a strong Cat 5. Hopefully she keeps moving south and away from you. Living in Florida I know your pains but your cyclones are usually more powerful then our hurricanes. Hopefully the issue with the contractor works out so you can get back to the boat and we can get some pictures. Good luck

Barr,
It's really good to hear from you! I was gettin itchy wondering were you went. Some times a guy gets on here and disappears. But you didn't. The boat is last of worries and yourself/family are the most important. I hope you are able to drill a hole up that lousy contractors keel and recoup some $$.
Great hearing from you and btw always chime in and comment in regards to your project or others.
Hey why is Marc 72/33 always flipping you the Bird? :D I thought it was only me. Telling me to keep working on my boat!:joyous:

Oops never looked at the picture that way. It's actually a pic of my dad when we were out on the boat. He is giving kind of a saluting wave but with the picture that small it does look like he's giving the one finger salute.

Woody, Mark, and Kcassells,
Thanks guys. I needed that shot in the arm! You guys are the best, thanks a heap.

Update re the loser who didn't pay me.......He's working on another jobsite under his sons licence so QBCC are after him. Some people have no conscience. He was employing men for a week and then didn't pay them....so they walked and he just got more guys in..... this is the type of person I'm dealing with. I'll keep you up to date on that front......In the meantime we have the same cyclone do a u turn and build up a bit of strength and is coming back as a cat 4 by 7am friday morning my time.....It doesn't rain ...........that's right if the the cyclone is above us we get smashed with rain, talking about 12in in 24 hours......fun and games living in the tropics

Hello all.
Well it's been a while since I've been on iBoats. Work has taken me all over the huge state of Queensland. Much news and little time to tell. So first of all I've not touched the boat since last posting. I will however try to make an effort over the holidays in December January.

I do have a technical question for those with experience in the following subjects........transporting the boat on this series of posts over 1,000 miles with the 150hp engine back on the transom.

So here's the question.....Is it a good idea to return the motor to the transom after the gutting of the floor and partial removal rear of the cap and drive the boat more than a 1,000 miles to our new home?

Fire away with any responses you have please, your help is as always much appreciated.

Cheers from North Queensland, Australia!

By the way, the transom is still intact, attached to the hull and therefore structurally sound,

I did tow my boat with motor on it. Had no stringers in it, transom was new. One of the guys, Zool suggested to prop the motor with a rope/strap to a sound structure up front of the boat to take/share the weight of the motor in transport. But I only went 6 miles to my new place. It worked fine but the whole time I was watching for something to happen.

I would for sure use something like a transom saver to help prop it up, or strap it to something solid up front like kcassells suggested. If the motor is already off, why not just strap it to a pallet and lay it down inside the hull? just a thought!

Yes the motor was removed nearly 12 months ago. I was thinking of the leg support bracket idea as the better option cause I'll will have some things in the hull as part of the whole moving house thing. Thanks guys you've confirmed what I was already thinking and proves that with a number of people all thinking the same thing, I can proceed with confidence and a measure of caution.

The engine does weigh 370 pounds but with the leg bracket taking some of the pressure off I'm confident I'll be fine .

Many thanks guys for your input.

My brother and I will be spending some of the summer holidays hopefully getting the fibreglass work done. He's a great painter and is excited to help cleaning the old girl up. Of course getting her back in the water is essential for my sanity as the minister for war and finance still rolls her eyes when I tell of the times yet to be had out on the deep blue pacific ocean.

I'm moving my family from Cairns to the Sunshine Coast. Over 1,000 miles but still in the state of Queensland. There's just not enough work here in a town still in contraction economically. Sunshine Coast is expanding so we move where there is work. My wife and my kids were all born on the Sunny Coast, so we're going home.

I'll keep you all up to date with the progress........so good to hear from you all!!

Cheers from tropical North Queensland.......

Well guys a little update.

Moved my family 1700km to where there is work for us all. Move made safely with only a trailer tire staring to de-laminate. The road temp was over 60 degrees Celsius on the day.

Boat under cover at a friends house. Plans to continue the grinding and stripping of the glass inside the hull ready for stringer replacement, floor and transom.
Pics will soon be available.

Took 2 weeks to get the internet on in the new house......you forget what its like to go dark!

Updates are on the way!

Cheers from Oz!
