The problem, as always, is the yahoos. A small number of people have the potential to screw things up for everybody. What would be nice, as if we had some sensible restrictions that remained in place. Easy stuff, social distancing, masks on everybody, employees and Shoppers when you're in an enclosed space. However, just going to go back to business as usual if we try to do things halfway. That's my fear.

Who thinks this virus bounces off and is blocked by country, state and county borders and city limit signs to keep portions of the globe safe?

Meat and poultry processing plants are known hotspots of COVID-19 infection. I live 1/2 mile or less from a chicken processing plant and workers have not been mass tested. Where do the workers live and shop? All around me!

But some good news. Stopped at Kroger wearing a homemade mask after a doctor's appointment and they had hand sanitizer for the first time in months! I got the biggest bottle they had and it was made in Canada. Thank you :canada:

My Doc also complemented me on my mask and said I was as healthy as senior with underlying issues could be expected. Today is a good day!

GA_Boater ....all of us that understand points and carburetors are in the "at risk" category

each of the vehicles has a zip-loc of lysol wipes and a mask sewn by my MIL

our area was hit because they did not close down the area for spring break.... try to keep college kids at a socially acceptable distance when alcohol is involved....

She said if I start feeling punky to put a lime in the coconut and call her in the morning. That's why I stopped at Kroger. :D

Does that include "classic" bikes and cars? The old Triumph Bonneville never needed an oil change cuz it left oil spots everywhere, but went like stink. The Spitfire wasn't fast because stopping to pick up parts that fell off was time consuming, not to mention putting the smoke back into the Lucas electrical system.

I saw in the news about 3 weeks to a month ago, that there is a Gin manufacture (here in Toronto) that started making hand sanitizer.
Apparently the have 2 of the ingredients already in house and just had to buy the third (what that is was not disclosed lol)

it's good to see after we/I start to loose faith in human compassion; that in "crises" we can all come together and be resourceful / can make constructive products.

Some interesting numbers coming out now that we are learning more.

35% of people are asymptomatic so the number of people infected they think is 11 time more than we currently report. I think that was the number. The death rate then becomes 0.6 which while much higher than seasonal flu isn't as drastic as feared.

also, here is TN 40% of our death have been in nursing homes and I think I heard similar for NY. So if there was a way to truly lock down those, things would be much better. I heard about one small one that rented rv's for his staff.

In PA we have had 5,464 deaths attributed to COVID-19. Of those deaths, the age breakdown is as follows:
- 374 from ages 59 and under
- 298 from ages 60-64
- 4792 from ages 65 and over.

Of the 5,464 deaths, almost 4000 of these deaths the person resided in a long term personal care facility. What is frustrating is that early on the PA Sec of Health and the Governor made it mandatory that long term care facilities could NOT refuse a patient if they had tested positive, or were a presumptive positive COVID-19 victim. Upon making this declaration the Sec of Health removed his/her mother from a long-term care facility and placed her in a resort until this was over. Needless to say, many families are a bit upset right now.

Here is more stats than you probably want to know about PA and COVID-19:
