It's funny how people shout "They're forged, fire Rather!!!" when there is still no proof that these documents are real or not. Did CBS get bamboozled with fake documents? Possibly, I'll even go as far as to say it is likely, but that still doesn't make it the absolute truth like many are claiming. <br /><br />Another funny thing is how nobody even bothers bringing up the fact that the Bush Admins claim about Saddam trying to buy yellowcake Uranium was based on, you guessed it, forged documents. Was the Admin duped? Possibly. But the papers were presented to the US people as fact when it really wasn't, which is also what CBS did with the guard memos. The difference? CBS misled the people during a Presidential Election, the admin misled the people during a time of war. Which is worse?<br /><br />You can say they both lied, or you can say they were both fooled. But either way, they are both guilty of the same thing.

What we don't know precisely is whether they are accurate or not.<br /><br />Unfortunately, ultimately it simply does not matter one way or another.<br /><br />CBS is apparently hiring an independent investigator to try and figure out what happened. I would really like to know, as what appears to have happened is sooooo stupid, and the players in this drama cannot possibly be this stupid, that something needs to come out that makes sense out of this whole affair.

Oh yea, you know, the eh experts...<br /><br />What does this have to do with the tread. Fishing for a way to change the real players of the discussion is not an arguement. Diversion to Bush fails to address the topic at hand. The childish arguement of "HE DID IT" stopped working for me in the second grade. Your bias is clearly showing. This proves it , doesn't it. There is no way on earth that we Conservatives would still be supportive of Dan Rather and crew if he had gone with forged documents discrediting John Kerry, and tipped off W to Kerry's discrediting info while posing as an unbiased and neutral guardian of the truth. That's what the dems get for embracing the policy of the ends justifying the means. We don't do that because we find it dishonest, and that's against our principles. That is why you guy's scare us. You will throw away principle if it gets in the way of your ideology.

The sooner he is yanked off his throne, the better. The fact that he keeps hammering the "accuracy" of the forged docuements is proof that he is following an anti-Bush agenda. That is just preposterous for a News Anchor.

Blu, Limbaugh is a declared advocate. So is Al Frankin. It is not Dan Rathers job to advocate against Limbaugh and in fact it is unethical for him to do so as a declared unbiased guardian of the truth. But as you conclude, apparently that is exactly what he was doing. If you're a wolf, say so. If you say you're a sheep, but are actually a wolf, then......
