I did this once before and it will run, but not happy and shakes, correct he firing order and you should be good.

Good news. After I switched lead 3 and 4, it works very well, not shaking, starting perfect. Forward and reverse are working
we cant see how your distributor was installed (where tower #1 is). firing order is 1342

yes this is fine depending on how level the boat is parked you will not have equal flow out of the ports

That nut should be tightened against the other side of the cable from the brass barrel. It is a stop nut to keep the end from coming loose (the end is the threaded part and smooth part of the end of that cable). Tis part is removed when running a new shift cable. after you run the outer sheath of the cable you need to tighten the end onto the cable sheath as far as it goes and then tighten that lock nut. then put the cable into the sheath and install the black cable end onto the cable....

Wonder if that bolt broke/corroded off. Remember that much of the beginning of this thread were half assed attempts to work around rot... Losing that bolt would go with a rotten transom.
The white selacant around transom was put by me to prevented the water get in.
I think the hole is just the mounting the bellow. It seems useless.
