Re: Can I add a telltale to the Force?

So why would you want to install one of these....for what purpose?

Sorry this is probably a dumb question but i just want to know why exactly...

thanks

I am glad to see this thread got pinned. This was a great add on to my Force. Thanks for the ideas. I tried to upload some pics but it says my file size is to big.

And here it is in action! Nice stream for only idle! Bet that will shoot over 6 feet when cruising!

that is so sweet! all you need is to add a t connector and have double shooting streams---one on each side haha

Re: Can I add a telltale to the Force?

Seeing as I don't have a water pressure gauge, I would like to add a telltale like my Evinrude has. Thought that drilling and tapping into the exhaust housing cover would work.

Anyone done this?

Yes, purchase a kit from a newer model force on line from doug russel.

Made two trips since I added and it works fine.

Additional Pictures:

You can probably tell, but I narrowed the tube size down by inserting the smaller diameter tube into the larger one. I'm worried about stealing too much water from the motor. I can always remove it if I need to.

A little dish soap made it very easy.

And a couple more.

I wanted it to look as 'factory' as possible, so I painted the brass flare nut white on the outside.

Total installation time start to finish was about 20 minutes...not counting time between coats of paint.

Its still to cold here for me to risk starting it up, so I'll have to post back in a month or so how it works.

I just got a 50hp force. Without a telltale how do I tell if waterpump is working?
Thanks

Nice job, and I like the way the flare nut looks on the outside. Really does have that OEM look.

Well, if it seizes up, thats one symptom of no cooling...:D

Run it on the water muffs, once the cylinder head is warm, the thermostat should open and water will be spitting out the upper vents on the lower leg.

That looks very good. Good work.

Re: Can I add a telltale to the Force?

My question is.....are you SURE this does not redirect water away from cooling the engine?

I'd hate to feel good about seeing the tell tale....and be frying the motor....

Re: Can I add a telltale to the Force?

Russ Ive been using mine for about 2 years and never had a problem. I think if someone had problems they would have posted how bad of an idea it is. I have only heard of good reviews on the subject. Just my two cents.

Re: Can I add a telltale to the Force?

thanks for that....I will add the tell tale.......

AND has anyone added a rear tilt/trim switch.....??

that's another little pain about these engines. Evinrude/Johnson has had 'em for years...lets you lower raise/lower the motor without getting back up on the boat!!

:)
