I learned to slalom a few miles up from there when I was 14. Almost turned purple. Shook for 20 mins.

Pirates cove is a nice spot but you won't be able to go up to laughlin this weekend, well Saturday anyways. It will be blocked off from motorized traffic for the Bullhead City Regatta. I'm heading down there Friday to float the Colorado w/ 25,000 of my closest friends. We all know that the Captain has to be mindful and vigilant for everyone and anything that can go sideways. So I like to think of it as a Captains holiday where I don't have to worry about the crew, boat or anything else except my own drunk butt. It's a nice change of pace.

I've known a lot of people who have made the event, but I've never been able to. A friend of my Son built this fine craft a few years ago for the event. I was informed by my kid that they had many visitors while on the float but he wasn't willing to share many pictures.

Just an FYI - the market/gas station in Meadview that has been closed all summer has been purchased by Gas-n-Grub who have stores in Kingman and should be open sometime in October. That'll be a relief to people boating out of Meadview.

I learned down by Blythe behind a jet boat. The water is much shallower and a little warmer there and tons of sandbars. Talk about scary! Got up my first time and didn't want to go down and end up wadding myself up on a sandbar. I can still remember the sandbars passing under my ski in the clear water. :hopelessness:

Never been to that event. That's HUGE! where does everyone put in/ take out at?

I'd really like to see sam60's son's pics...you know, just to make sure it's safe :D

My 25 year old son will be floating as well. He goes every year. I never have.

LOL, I just won 2 free nights at the Avi resort & Casino. Our shop was picked for 'office of the day' on a local radio station. If I would have won them earlier I could have taken them this weekend for the big bash

We can only hope that Skiya get lots of pics of the clever crafts......and their occupants..... while on his float. :joyous:

Saw the same going by while shivering. There are plenty of shallows between Moabi and Bullhead. They're just rockier

You put in at Davis Camp and the end of the Coast Guard zone is Rotary Park about 10 miles down from the bridge.

And I do have pics of the float I just don't think the ones you want to see can be posted.
Edit: sorry, has to go :(

Got back from Lake Powell over the weekend and as usual Powell doesn't disappoint. With the low water level we were able to see parts of the lake that are usually underwater. In the back of West Canyon we found wild scallions growing up to 8' tall, amazing. here's some pics from our trip.
Nice pics. I love West Canyon.

Question for anyone who frequents Callville bay. I had a floating boat key chain (blue fish shape) from there, and it had the Callville bay logo on it. I bought it at the store on the hill. Well, one of my kids chewed it up. I would be willing to pay shipping and throw in a little extra if anyone could pick me up a replacement. Thanks.

I should be there in next few days, will check and see what they have for key chains. Maybe I'll get a a couple pics of what they have. I'm usually at Callville once a week.
