Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

I'm still here boys. I have my sailboat down at MD marina, in middle river. You guys need to come down there.
I just might take you up on that Kyle. It would make a nice weekend run.
.....makes HDG look like an old man's town.
Then I'm fittin' right in!
.... soooooo many hotties, and red necks on the dock in lawn chairs, just relaxin next to thier boats.
Sounds to me like you've become one of those marina jockeys that never leave their slip!;)

Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

Last year I look my boat out once a week, maybe once every other week. And I prob left the slip twice as much as most people.
I never saw anyone on most of the boats there. Just using the boat spuratically there, everyone comes to know you as a frequent visitor of the marina. Since most people only use their boat a handful of times a year.

But yea rob, I remember checking out MD marina for the first time last summer. And my mind was blown by what I saw at sunset cove (the marina's dock bar). It was a scene out of seacrets, in OC. And you had some slip holders tailgating inside the marina parking lot. So you have the party at the beach bar, and the laid back relaxin spot in the parking lot/slips.

Snow and Ice over the past few days....rain and fog today. Man, I'm ready for boating weather!! Had to placate myself with a little "chart boating" this morning. Plotted a course out of Middle River to Bodkin Creek with a stop at the Cheshire Crab. After that, out around Gibson Island, into the Magothy, and anchor in Sillery Bay to watch the sun go down.

Come on summer.

Working on buying a new boat, if all goes through end of march earlier April.

If not, I'll have my fishing boat in the water mid April...

Well, hopefully picking up my new to me Carolina Skiff towards the end of the week and will have it out this weekend in the local lake just to get out. Probably won't get on the upper bay until the weather justifies the drive. So maybe April sometime.

First time I have checked back in here in a long time. We had a baby boy in the beginning of January. Really looking forward to another season on the upper bay. Going to head down to the marina this weekend in what feels like forever. I am really tempted to fire up the engines, but haven't decided if I will yet or not. The problem is, that once I fire them up, I will want to leave the slip!

Rob - How are you guys doing? I hope to see you some this year!!

Thanks Uncle Spidey. He sure is a little blessing and a big adjustment! We are going to get him started on the boating at a young age. In fact, yesterday was his first time on the boat :D Granted, we stayed in the slip and were only there for about 90 mins, but he made it aboard at 10 weeks old!!

Doing pretty well Brandon. Last year was tough. Hope to be able to make it down more this year.
Congrats on the new addition!!!
Our daughter was born in May and we had her out on the Wellcraft that July ('89).
I put a LOT of thought into how to keep her safe/secure when onboard. I'll bet you've been pondering it as well.

On another note- the main Havre de Grace channel is being dredged! Last Saturday I saw 3 separate dredges between Tydings Island and Sand Island. Maybe they're making it wider. Sure hope they're done by Memorial Day weekend........

Rob - I know it was, I felt bad for you. Really hoping that this is a much better year for you and that we get to see you some at the marina and out on the water.

We were able to make it to the marina today and get the boat cleaned up and ready for use. Felt great to start up the engines and hear them run after sitting all winter. Rob, " Winter Dream" looked good.

Here are a couple pics from today.

Hey Rob, How is the back channel out of HDG?
Brandon, Very nice looking son, congrats. We had our kids in swim lessons the first year, but the best class was at West Chester university. Now they are both on a swim team and will have to pull me to the shore if anything ever happens in the bay.

Hey Rob, How is the back channel out of HDG?

Just fine as far as I know. They added 2 new channel markers just past the launch ramp, so that'll make it easier to get into the deep water from the start.

Hope to get down there on Sunday to start the engines and start cleaning!

Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

Just saw something about HDG bicentennial going on this week. This weekend is busy so I won't be able to make it down but I wanted to pass it on if someone has the time.
