Is the kicker dragging in the water on takeoff? That drag could also have an effect. When you go on plane, is the bow riding high in the sky or does it barely come out of the water? That would be an indication of weight distribution.

I would start out with trim angle and then prop pitch. Then play around with weight distribution.
I would go with weight distribution first as setting the trim pin all the way in first, would bring the bow down, but with a loss of Efficiency from the upward Thrust, while a load rebalance might do the same but keep the prop thrust more Parallel to the direction of travel

Get a portable tachometer and see if your 25 is operating at its peak rpm, otherwise we are all guessing! A tach will tell the story for sure...

Excuse my ignorance, can a 14 ft jon boat be capable of the weight of the extra motor?

Depends on the jon boat, some are wider and deeoer than others, some have higher/ lower HP ratings as well as load ratings, so it all depends !!

That's not the buccaneer I've been looking at. That boat doesn't look like a max HP of 25. Is that what's on the rating?

Yea that's what I came up with as well.. looks different from the op's pic..
Yeah, I'm still searching. I can't read the name at the stern.

Hopefully, the OP will provide us with the make/model and year of his boat.

I was thinking his boat is a standard aluminum jon or v-bow type, which could have a max rating of 25HP.

But the pic he provided contradicts aluminum. Intriguing.

That's a lot of boat for a 25hp to push! I am thinking the extra 50+ pounds hanging behind the transom and a person behind the center console just tips the scales to the non-perfomance range. If it planes without the kicker, you may have to determine to either lose the kicker or trade your 25hp main in for a higher horsepower model.

Dont see where the op ever posted a pic, just a verbal description. There was an old alum boat maker in the old, old days with that name, mabey ???

Lots of bad info here. That's not a 25 HP boat. More like a 60. If you have a 25 and added a kicker, you have exceeded the capability. A prop change won't help you. You need a bigger motor.
