Re: Air America, any listeners?

I listened to Randi Rhodes once, and I posted here a warning to all thinking people to at least remove children who might be in earshot. What hate. No thought at all. No basis to her thoughts just gossip, and I really liked the illegal parody of killing Bush. That is a federal crime. But hey, no more spirited than Rush? Thoughtful, intellegent, discussion for todays modern liberal.

I encourage anyone to listen to 30 minutes of this program and then post back. That is if you can find anyone who carries it.

I listened to one guy who, though very liberal, was well spoken and rational. He addressed issues rather than people which for this network is the exception. I didn't agree with alot of what he said but at least it wasn't the venomous, hate filled diatribe you get with most of the Air America programing. Al Franken, he has nothing to say unless it is somehow insulting someone he doesn't agree with.

Any of these "hosts" would kill to have 1/50th the audience of a Rush, or Hannity, Preager, or Hewitt. But in order to do that, you need to actually enlighten and uplift the audience. Ranting and hate on a day to day basis just won't bolster their ratings, they have to have something to say. I have no idea how this crew has a snowballs chance of doing that. But that doesn't mean that there isn't others who can actually articulate the liberal position for their candidates, whatever that might be, and have a sustainable audience. Begging for money to stay on the air just won't cut it.

Thanks, treedancer (sincere). I clicked the link to the on-air player, listened to about one minute of murtha whining about American military (my military), got nausious, and clicked back to their site.
But I bookmarked it... After all, that Murtha Feller can't talk forever.

I agree, Michael Savage, although apparently very educated has a screw loose or something.

Air America would most likely do a bit better in the ratings if they had some one like Neal Boortz, to counter some of the radicals that they have. We have a station that changed their format in the St. Louis area from sports talk to pure talk; they have some of the air America group, such as Al Franken, but they have put Boortz on before him

I like Boortzs ideas on taxes, I would have made the fair tax rally in Georgia if I hadn’t had other plans. I used to go into Georgia about every other week and heard him as I was going thru Atlanta, I believe at the time he was local, but now must be syndicated. He and I have much in common on the tax issues.

I have no issue with Air America.

What I have issue with is when they can't compete they will become publicly funded in the guise of "fairness". :(

I used to listen to Rush once in a while, but now I can take him only in small doses before nasea sets in. It is so blatantly and transparently hypocritical, one has to think his audience, if they are not rolling their eyes in amazement, must be completely addled.

The other day he was prattling along about how the right was being "victimized" by the media---Nothing new there--that usually takes up about 80 % of every day's show...

But this time he was complaining incessantly about morning network TV shows catering to a predominately female audience regarding coverage of gas prices---apparently not relying solely on stark economic data enough to suit Rush's taste.

Imagine that, a broadcast medium that attempts to cater their specific programming to the demographic of their audience, or the audience the advertisers wish to attract...

The very same argument that he uses to explain the popularity of his and other right wing radio...that they cater to the demographic their advertisers want (in Rush's case, that must be angry white males).

C'mon, now, Rush, you've got to be consistent here. Either free enterprise is a good thing or it isn't. You can't pick and choose which time it's ok, and which time it is "unfairly" victimizing angry white males.

I must be an "angry white male".

Apparently I'm not nearly as angry or feel the need to blast someone as you do-PW2.

I thought all liberals were loving and caring?

Not true, I am afraid. Liberals prefer fairness, accuracy, integrity. We certainly can be caring and loving to those that earn it, but it is not a requirement.

Re: Air America, any listeners?

Funny how you don't hear conservative politicians whinning about Randi Rhodes or Al Franken but you can hear attacks and proposed legislation to force liberalism on the US public.

My favorite is when they complain about Rush on Armed Forces radio. He is on there because during their survey on what programing soldiers wanted to hear, Rush won by an overwhelming margin. The funny part is he wasn't even on the survey, he won by write in vote. Now they want to legislate in some lib. What a joke. In the marketplace of ideas the liberals need to legislate their voice. Perhaps it is the messenger or perhaps it is the message but either way nobody seems to want to hear them. We have to assume its because what they have to say just doesn't reach out to our armed forces. Calling them murderers and Nazi's I can't understand why?

But having been around almost two years, Air America has failed to do anything but provide fodder for the right. Lets look at some liberal markets. In LA they have less than a 1.0 share, less in Chicago and in New York their Flagship station WLIB is now at a .08 market share. So besides having to steal from a boys and girls club, back door funding by the likes of George Soros and flat out begging for money, while having to pay Al Franken his one million bucks a year (doesn't this bother any liberals), the network will be lucky to survive another year. Things are so bad that Mediaweek announced that their FLAGSHIP station in NEW YORK will revert back to an all-Carribean format. They failed to attract a liberal audience in New York? I think they have grown in Seattle and Denver. Wow what a reach. Doesn't anyone find it interesting that the hosts on Air America are pointing to Bush's approval ratings as an indicator of his failure, while they can't typically make even a 1.0 share in the markets they serve.

Please, when it comes to Air America the cupboard is bare, no make that empty.

PW2,

It's not the leaders of my party that seem so he!! bent on the politics of personal destruction.

Actually, to our discredit, we sit back and "take it" (personal insults, lies, namecalling) far too much, IMHO.

It's the Liberals that seem to dish it out, as you proved, and use the "I'm offended" card when some backlashes and sticks to the perpetrator of the insult.

It's not unlike a fishing reel backlash. It's not the reels fault (although liberalism shuns responsibility) it's the OPERATORS fault.

When the voters wake up and start holding Senators like Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy responsible for some of their outlandish accusations, we'll all be better off.

Re: Air America, any listeners?

There are some very good reasons why the "liberal" talk shows never took off. They made the mistake of trying to play the game that Rush plays so brilliantly. You cannot attract a well educated and intelligent group of people by pandering to the lowest common denominator.
