Nice to see someone else suffering the bayliner blues also😂😂. Na but for real I?ve got the same boat just a 94. Looks like your almost home though. I?m still in the demo stage. One Thing I?ll be doin different with mine is I?ll be building a sectional in mine and the rear sun pad will be redesigned to open full wing style. Can?t wait to see your finished product.

Nice work on a very long project! I'm so glad to have two partners in my I/O transom replacement. It's been seven weeks now with three people working on it. We are seeing light at the end of our tunnel though. Maybe another 10 days. Good luck and hope to see it finished soon. Great Job!

I'm actually thinking of doing something similar. The single thing I hate the most about my current boat and this bayliner design is the full sundeck. When the kids or someone is tubing, skiing, swimming, etc, the only way back in the boat is to step on it, which gets the vinyl wet and stresses the crap out of the seams. My stingray has tears in the vinyl right where everyone steps to get back in the boat.

I plan on making the sun deck either 2/3 length or allow the last part to flip up on a hinge and have a step below it to get back in the boat.

have you got he floor down yet ? I was surprised to see someone else didn?t like how bayliner brought the bulk heads all the way up to the helms as well. I hate that. I plan on laying the floor entirely from bow to stern. And building on top of that. Also didn?t like how the stringers stepped in starting at the locker. Thought about trying something different there to get a wider locker. Maybe create some access In he floor at the bow . I pulled the cap on mine to cut the wood out under the helms made it a lot less of a pain. I do not plan on putting as much foam back in this thing. Like under the helms I?m gonna use that for storage . And back in the stern where the 2 big boxes are on the port and star sides. Waste of space if you ask me. Keep posting up. Nice to see another bayliner like mine getting overhulled

No, hoping to get the floor down by this weekend, but thats an ambitious goal.. Probably more likely to get the floor cut to size and maybe glass the underside, but I can dream...
I think were in the same "boat" as far as the reconstruction and not putting it back how bayliner did it. It would be a huge pain in the butt to do the large stringers and bulkheads that make up the boxes above the floor, but I get why they did it... The factory is definitely CNC cutting all these pieces, so it would make their assembly process much easier.

I also plan on leaving all that foam out that was under the helm area since that could be a ton of storage. Thats the one thing I like better about my stingray, is it has way more storage room than this, so adding storage under the helm will make a big difference. Other than that, I plan on foam going back in all the same other spots. I'm still a little concerned with how much flex there will be in the floor by the ski locker since I didn't put back the two inner stringers, so I may add some stiffening ribs or something to the underside of the floor in this area... haven't decided yet.

Well it's official... the stringers and bulkheads are complete, waterproof, bombproof, etc...
I also got the bottom for the fuel tank cavity glassed and PBed in. Need to tab it then I think I'll do a layer of gelcoat in the tank cavity... then its time to cut the deck lip out.. yayyyy....

Got the deck lip cut out but still lots of grinding left ahead of me... gotta reload on sanding discs and then find the time... after that I'm probably going to gelcoat the fuel tank area and install the tank so I'll be totally ready to get the floor cut and in... getting there!

What species of wood did you use ? Your coming along nicely . I have had a bit of a set back. I have a hole in my hull so I decided to go ahead and flip it over to do the repairs. And found some pretty bad osmosis blisters. So I guess I?m gonna refinish my hull before I get to do any stringers.

The stringers are kiln dried 2x6s, bulkheads are 3/4"CDX, floor is 1/2" MDO, little bit of everything haha.

Got some more done.. deck lip is gonzo! At least for the most part.. I'm assuming once I get everything cleaned out there will be a few touch ups... coming down to the wire with temps. Also got the drain installed from ski locker to bilge which came in handy when I came home to my tarp inside the boat today.

Well, I just picked up a 99 Bayliner 2050 with a similar problem. Thanks for posting your progress!

Any guys know why people seam to gelcoat the tank area on their bowrider boats... I am prepping to do it myself but thinking about it, I don't really know the purpose...

I gelcoated mine for addition water proofing and sealing of the wood. Since this is part of the bilge channel up the center of the boat it could get wet. I also was concerned about condensation build up. Besides, it sure does look pretty.

On a side note, I just finished up a side project for the boat of some underwater transom LEDs. I couldn't bring myself to spend what the commercial ones are going for knowing I could make these, for the cost of some 50W ebay leds ($2.99 each), a dc-dc LED driver from ebay ($6.99), and a 6 pack of cold ones for my buddy with the CNC... Can't wait to see how they work...

I'm just wondering if thats true, then wouldn't it make sense to gelcoat the foam areas first too?? since we know those eventually are going to get wet?

That looks really good, would be interested to see how they work for you and if your buddy is willing to sell them.

I thought about selling them but once you get into good quality LEDs of that power, they get really expensive... and I wouldn't feel very good about selling someone a bunch of eBay components... I dunno, I guess if I made it clear what you're getting people might be okay with it...

The alternative is $200 plus a piece for the good brands...
