I see where that guy keeps his choppers.

Pink foam stays together so much better than the styro - Styro crumbles when you look at it, least the old stuff does.

Aircraft is the best I have found unless you have access to HomeHardware in Canada for Safe Strip. So the flip went with out any drama?????

Nice job on the flip! Quite a bit more weight with transom/deck installed.

If you can't find Aircraft Stripper, I had great results with Zip Strip.

What paint scheme are you going with?

Thanks, Dozer and BF, will try the aircraft stripper.

I plan on stripping and polishing the bottom and lower sides, and painting the upper sides., the area that is currently blue will be maroon.

Yeah assume the turtle position and the worst job or the whole resto begins! I've always used the Klean Strip in the orange can and had good results.

I'm not liking the trailer with the wobble rollers, after 27 years of trailering the 16 contact points have dented the hull, and worn the aluminum. I will be replacing with bunks.

I had the same problem on the Holiday, I was going to replace with bunks but it loads and unloads so nice, so I went from 16 to 28 rollers.

nearly doubling the rollers should help a lot. The roller trailers are nice for loading/unloading, I may look at UHMW poly or something slippery like that.

Re: 87 SS180 First Rebuild

there has got to be a quicker way to remove the pin striping on these boats. Ive been using a sharpened putty knife and a heat gun and the progress is depressingly slow.

Hey Astor what I have done on mine is get this.

Shop Blue Hawk 5.25-in Steel Paint Scraper with Steel Handle at Lowes.com

long handled scraper 5.25 inches wide $10 and worth every nickle.

Then I heat the pin stripping up with a propane torch BE CAREFUL don't overheat it you can warp the aluminum if you do. When they are hot enough they will start to bubble. They will come off quickly and cleanly that way.

When you get the actual stripping off there will be residual glue. SLATHER it with mineral spirits and sand it off using 220 grit sandpaper. Its a drawn out process but it works really well.

I am actually putting the flip tinny on my roller trailer, my keep tinny on a bunk trailer.

Spray can of aircraft remover and a sharp scraper takes that stuff right off. I never had very much patience for the heat gun and the blistering mess it leaves behind.

Hmm, what do you get the Admiral for b-day (xmas, valentines day, anniversaries, etc... whatever) that lets you build a 64ft boat in the backyard for 36 years? My head can't sustain that much frying pan action
