I wouldn't replace that shutter. No way. Mine are missing half the rubber and rattle a lot. Still work fine though. I think that is what is what you hear rattling in your boat tho.

Goldie, run the motor with out it as a test. if the noise goes then you know its the shuttter. Thats what i would do.

Thanks RickYou can just shove a cutoff garden hose in the water port in the bellhousing - where the 1.5 inch o-ring is. Works fine. And the way the system works you should see water out the exhaust before you even start the motor.
Thanks Speak, shutter is on the way and im working on the idle.... will keep ya updatedgoldie, with the engine miss fireing like that you will for sure get in complete combustion past the flapper causing that rattle. Ever seen the exhaust pipe on a missfiring car? Pop pop pop pop........ Bet ya a cold beer that if you fixed the missfire that the rattle would go away. But still, replace that flapper with new cause if ya dont, you will be thinking of it all the time when out on the water.
Thanks for the suggestion ahmincha! how much oil? teaspoon? tablespoon? a few drops? im curious to see if i can bring that 155 up, only thing is wet tests always read higher than dry correct? i dont wanna get too happy prematurely :watermelon:Compression isn't to bad you want to be within 10% your close you can squirt a little oil in that cylinder let it soak in and try again . Rings could just be a little sticky from sitting.
