Woody, you were super close, just a hair shy of 1/4 when you predicted 4 layers would get me there :) as far as thickness went. 4 layers 1708 plus 1 layer csm was just a touch over 3/16. You were also right on the money when you said 13/64 (0.203) for the fourth layer thickness :)

Im lost with this 32nd's and 64ths, the extent of my math is 16ths and 8ths  My understanding of math is on par with my understanding of women :D

Im gonna pull one of my nephews or nieces aside and have them give me a fraction crash course :)

It's pretty simple actuaxlly. If you want to know what 1/2 of a fraction is multiply the bottom number by 2. Example half of 1/4 = 4x2=8 so it's 1/8 half of 1/8 = 8x2=16 so 1/16 Got it???

Got it :)

What do you think of my motor mount dry fit tabbing? Should I change anything? I wanna go lay it up in the morning.

One more thing, 5 or 6 layers layin up back to back is gonna generate a boat load of heat... heh heh heh

Should I do 2 or 3 layers, let it cool, then keep going? or all in one shot?

wow that's some layup man! Are you secretly mounting a jet engine in place of the 4 banger??

lol, torpedo proof! I think I did 1 layer of 1708 and 2 layers of csm on the front mount on mine, still plenty more than the manufacturer ever used lol. Lookin good Goldie!

That's funny, what I believe to be my original motormount had 1/4 glass on it. I already got 4 layers on buy I got hung on the 5th layer and hadda peel it off before it kicked. Was so embarrassing. I'll upload the carnage soon =)

Actually running out of time and peeling up the last layer wasn't the bad part, the bad part is going to be grinding all that resin off and getting the bottom of the motor mount preped. Just another delay.... I gotta get this boat splashed asap! Will b 2 years this coming november, i gotta keep my chins up =)

One Word....TANK!!!!:D:eek:
LOL yea its gonna be a weapon of Bass destruction :D

Scott and I where having a conversation about motor mount tork and how many layers are really necessary. I wish I would have recorded it. Anyway, neither of us have any marine background but Scott is a mechanic by trade. Scott feels like the motor mount is solid. My feeling is the motor does not generate a lot of tork based on two observations.

1.) There was no mentionable indents on the old motor mount top surface from where the edges of the motor would have dug in from tork.

2.) Lag bolts would likely yank out before the mount mount became dislodged from its position.

I welcome everybodys opinion on this, its interesting.

I got hung on the 6th piece of motor mount tabbing and had to pull it off before it fully kicked . I was a bit too cocky and didnt mix the batch light enough. Also, I spent way to much time on the bottom pieces that went on right before the 6th layer. I'm uploading that deacle now :croc::D

Should I just stay with the 5 layers? or should I stick with the plan and do 6 layers to get me to the 1/4 original thickness?

There was a TV show called everybody hates chris. The family would be sitting at the kitchen table and one of the kids would spill a glass of milk. The dad would say "hey, thats 37 cents worth of milk!" :D

Im like that now counting resin that kicked in the cup!! LOL :)
