Hey Goldie, my bilge mount is 1/2" thick, 5 1/2" long X 3 1/2" wide. Hope that helps.

For the fourth we went to Shreveport boardwalk and watched the fireworks from Bass pro shops boats. Well of course I found the one that was most similar to mine and checked out all the new features. The sundeck they have allows for the entire thing to flip up to get access to the motor and two large compartments where our seats used to be. Then the "bench seat" has two more compartments and in the center it has a live well.

I used 3/4 inch. That should give u enough material to screw into.

As for the weight of the boat. My thoughts are this. The fiber glass it's self weighs nothing really. It's the resin that's heavy. Ask your self how much each pail weighs in at and how many did you use. I bet now that all the extra rot and water is out the boat, it will only marginally be heavier. I felt the same way with my build but had no problems. Your better to be a bit heavier than flexing and twisting over waves. Hope this helps.
Thanks speak, how much glass did you cover your 3/4 with? once you got the piece cut, did you tapper the edges down?

I started with (3) 5 gallon pails from us composites, since then I've purchased (5) 5 gallon pails form composites one, each pail weighs about 45 lbs, so thats 8 x 45 = 365 and I need to go pick up another pail today :faint2:. Bear in mind there was some waste from being a noob early on and this has been a complete restoration.

The floor and below is all 3/4 inch ply instead of whatever was there originally I think it was like 1/2 inch. (1) 4x8 sheet of 3/4 is roughly 70 pounds. (1) 4x8 1/2 is roughly 50 pounds so, 4 x 70 = 280 4 x 50 = 200, 280 - 200 = 80 so 365 extra pounds of resin plus 80 pounds of extra wood = 445 extra pounds  and im not done yet I still have to install the doghouse/sundeck/benchseat and motor mount.

please forgive me im so terrible at math:facepalm:

am i being paranoid? not about sucking in math but about the extra weight :D

NP Goldie, in my memory there was two more compartments on the bench seat. But after looking at the pictures I can see they are hollow underneath....drunk memory was just corrected by photographic evidence. I now recall being drunk trying to pick up those "storage compartments" on the bench seat. Then I looked underneath and noticed there wasn't anything there lol.

Hey Goldie, just catching up on this entire thread. Super nice work, like you said, that boat you built is gonna last a lifetime! I think the rigidity will make up for any added weight. I'm curious to see what my rig weighs, once finished I might take it down to the scales at the scrap yard just to see. I'm curious to see how you go about building your doghouse, rear sundeck seating area. I'm trying to brainstorm ideas myself on what to do for my boat, I think once I have the engine in place I'll get a better idea. I'll be sure to check in every now and then, looking forward to seeing the final product!

Thanks Woe, I hadda stop my doghouse - sundeck - bench seat rough cuts on account of having to install the motor mount. I'll record as much of the doghouse stuff as I can. I can see it in my mind, I wish I could draw it on paper for you. Only thing im still working out is; in the original there was a fire wall where fumes got trapped from coming forward and the steering mechanism passed through. Once i figure that out the rest is down hill but at least now I know what it will look like and have 70% cut and some pieces assembled. Like you said keep checkin back..... its coming :)

Oh.. and your engine looks like a beast!

By the way, any idea why the medium, large and full size forum attachments view as all the same size? It seems to only randomly make the uploaded pics nice and big like I like them..
