Re: '79 Starcraft SS 16 restoration
Didn't get too much done last night. Couldn't locate my old tube of 5200 so I will have to buy a new one to get the transducer and speed wheel mounted on the stern.
We did permanently attach the aluminum bow structure last night with screws, will plan on painting the epoxied wood pieces for the benches tonight. Should I roll the paint on or spray it? (painting is my weakest area).
The one thing that I'm happiest about at the moment is how much weight is being added to the bow with all the structure going back in. It gives me a good amount of tongue weight as compared to the wide open bow I'd been rolling with.
Also the width is greater higher up in the bow, which gives the illusion of the hull being wider. That's why I mentioned that the rig looks more spacious earlier.
Can't decide where to put the remaning two pedestal bases, I may go with the remaining two right in front of the splashwell like the brand-new Starcrafts and Lunds.
I'm once again contemplating building a deck that drops into the bow to fill the U shape that will also have a pedestal. That will have to wait though.
Couldn't be happier with the looks of the rig since the windshield went back in. It really looked like a backyard resto with just the helm shield.
